@mogwaylaven Dear Angela, my friend, I hope to see you soon I feel that I fell deeply along with my mother, we are both sick, we are morbidly obese, it is difficult to get ahead, many times because eating healthily is more expensive.

It's not really a documentary. It's essentially a 90 minute OpEd piece telling you to go Vegan.

Some of the stuff in this is really stupid (guy calls the American Heart/Cancer/Diabetes Associations 1-800 number, which is certainly a call center, and asks the hard hitting questions). You won't get an answer from that and your viewers are not this stupid (I hope).

That said, a ton of the claims in this really moved me for purposes of my own health. I was pretty excited but decided to google some stuff to see where the scientific/medical community lies on these things. Turns out, a lot of the stuff in here is REALLY unproven, a copmlete lie, or really slanted which is extremely misleading to viewers.

I have to say, now I think this is terrible because of these things. Recommend people read up here and elsewhere to get smart before buying into the claims here without doing other research: http://zdoggmd.com/what-the-health/ .

Additionally, I think this is far more complicated than we think... and at this point I don't trust any of these experts...

1/10 because of misleading and extreme slant without telling the watcher first.

...including some lies and overreacting. the few facts are abused to make it appear this "opinion" or better "limited point of view" is the only solution.

No Question most people eat to big, unhealthy and to much meat.

But are animal-eating animals unhealthier than plant-eating animals? Are they extinct? No! It has more to do with exercise.

"Casein is addicting" No! All things you do (eat, move, learn, toilette...) trigger the same reward system in the brain for a reason.

An Egg containing all nutrients to create a new life - in their opinion egg yellow kills you. lol
It's 2017 and they still think cholesterol from food is harmful for the body.

What about insects animal protein? Why became the dominant species on this planet an everything eater?

... and so on.

propaganda movie which could have been perfected with a narrator voice of Putin or Erdogan. The same kind of movie could have been made for "only eat meat, plants will kill you"

learning sustainable nutrition not with this "documentary". you might want to go vegan for reasons, but not for this.

I encourage you to take a look at the sources for the information included in the documentary at http://www.whatthehealthfilm.com/facts/, lots of good articles in here. A lot of your questions are covered in there. Another awesome resource is NutritionFacts.org which simply looks at the actual science and what it shows. <br /> <br /> &gt; But are animal-eating animals unhealthier than plant-eating animals? Are they extinct? No! It has more to do with exercise.<br /> <br /> Not true. While exercise is of course an important part of a healthy lifestyle, diet has a far greater impact. If you're fueling your body with crap, exercise isn't going to counteract that. There are plenty of people who are fit and exercise that still drop dead from a heart attack.<br /> <br /> &gt; "Casein is addicting" No! All things you do (eat, move, learn, toilette...) trigger the same reward system in the brain for a reason.<br /> <br /> Casein breaks down to casomorphins which has an opiate like effect on our bodies. It's what tells a baby calf to keep going back to drink more milk. http://www.onegreenplanet.org/natural-health/casein-dairy-protein-and-your-health/<br /> <br /> &gt; An Egg containing all nutrients to create a new life - in their opinion egg yellow kills you. lol<br /> It's 2017 and they still think cholesterol from food is harmful for the body.<br /> <br /> When eating animal based foods, it's not just cholesterol that gets consumed, it is a complete package and also what happens when it is cooked. The egg industry thinks their product is a super food, yet they can't legally claim it is healthy or that would be considered false advertising, interesting. https://nutritionfacts.org/video/who-says-eggs-arent-healthy-or-safe/<br /> <br /> &gt; The same kind of movie could have been made for "only eat meat, plants will kill you"<br /> <br /> I'm not aware of any studies indicating eating a 100% meat diet is healthy or can reverse the most chronic diseases in the US. There are a ton of peer reviewed, evidence based studies that indicate a plant based diet can do so. Also, you need fiber in your diet which animal products have 0 of.

@justin<br /> No, you don't need trying to trick me!<br /> And no, you don't need Intentionally or dumbly misunderstand my criticism and giving misleading answer without even disprove my critic on the wrong absolutism of this movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fording me to a single source ROTFL I have a own brain, and could use my own sourceS (plural!)<br /> Forcing me in endless discussion in this place which is no forum - it's a comment section!<br /> Never is "the-movie-website" or"nutrionfacts.org" a solid source and free from fakefacts (propaganda). Rating his own stuff, self-linking to his own one propaganda side while majority of scientist and provable facts reveal these lies. I know you will never come out from your "filter bubble", no matter how good my arguments or weak yours would be.. The should have JUST sticked to the Truth, skipping the manipulative lies. Point.<br /> <br /> I just on a simple way disproved the words of the blind absolutism in this movie - this disgusting esoteric knowledge!!!<br /> <br /> I just revealed the lies and the misleading connection of information. I never said that all information about nutrition in this crap movie are wrong.<br /> And to be clear, there are movies and documentaries about plant nutrition which give only correct informations.<br /> <br /> You don't have to encourage me! you don't have to explain things to me! My knowledge about sustained nutrition and sport is obviously by far far far more developed than yours!<br /> I know the lies from the "only vegan"-lobby, as well as the lies from "the meat is good"-lobby. They all move the view wrong. But again this is a comment section. Giving you proper education about nutrition (which may come to the conclusion pro/only plant based is an option) would be a very time consuming task - still you would ignore it. But I didn't want to give a lecture which could take years. So I just criticize the wrongs of the movie. You don't need to distract with cheap tricks.<br /> Even your comment hurts my brain, because you ignore things I wrote or again mix up wrongs and rights.<br /> Me explaining that to you needs at lease 1 book. Have no time - Get out of your "filter bubble" and do the learning yourself!<br /> <br /> And don't ever try again to force my intelligence or experience. (You don't even get the cynicism in the conclusion of my first comment and try to counterargue it ROTFL - you haven't or you didn't want to understand what I wrote - so I let it be)<br /> <br /> BTW<br /> it's not just the lies in the movie mixed with few facts - the movie (e.g. presentation) is simply brain-dead boring.<br /> Just to inform you: No, I'm not a big meat eater - far away from it! Just this movie is crap and deluded!<br /> "Plastic Planet" did a quite good job. This movie did NOT!!!!<br /> Don't even try to answer!!!

@justin <br /> Just to give you 1 example of how incompetent your are:<br /> <br /> I wrote:<br /> &gt;"Casein is addicting" No! All things you do (eat, move, learn, toilette...) trigger the same reward system in the brain for a reason.<br /> <br /> you wrote (repeat the same crap from movie - I already heard and just answered to):<br /> &gt;Casein breaks down to casomorphins which has an opiate like effect on our bodies. It's what tells a baby calf to keep going back to &gt;drink more milk.<br /> <br /> You did clearly not read what I actually wrote. You didn't want to. Get your science right - better complete!<br /> You just pick up what pleases you and throw away all other facts! Disgusting!<br /> <br /> REAL drugs do force trigger humans dopamine system on a unnatural way - that's the danger <br /> <br /> Eating (ALL foods, not just "vegan (thinks is god) says casein is bad and wants all to believe that crap), drinking and shit also triggers the dopamine system, but on the natural way! Because your brain wants humans to eat and shit - it's needed.<br /> <br /> That all you would know if you would have asked an unbiased neurologist!<br /> BUT wait, in this case you couldn't have used it as propaganda in the movie anymore (saying "ONLY casein triggers this system (opiate like), is therefor addictive and bad" -propaganda)<br /> <br /> Much disrespect for people either self so stupid or trying to manipulate people on such disgusting way!

@jamatiknakmuay Of course things in addition to casein are addicting. I never said it was the only substance to cause an addiction, you specifically singled casein out so I linked a source with more info. The casein in dairy is addicting in that it makes you want to continue eating more and more, it has that effect in your brain. I never said it was more addicting or harmful than illicit drug use.<br /> <br /> With all due respect, my initial reply addressed some of your comments and I provided links with more info for those interested in learning more. Ranting without providing sources doesn't help get your point across. I'd be interested in reading sources with independent (not funded by industry) research related to the comments you made.<br /> <br /> Regarding your comment for NutritionFacts.org, he looks at peer reviewed studies published in medical journals. That is not fake or propaganda, that is science based. There are ton of websites out there making claims about nutrition, it makes sense to look at what the research indicates. I agree there is an agenda though, educating people to take ownership of their own health and lifestyle.<br /> <br /> The simple fact is there are no studies that indicate a meat heavy diet is capable of reversing chronic conditions like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. There is plenty of research and studies showing a plant based diet can.<br /> <br /> https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25198208<br /> http://ajcn.nutrition.org/content/70/3/525s.full<br /> https://nutritionfacts.org/video/how-not-to-die-from-heart-disease/

This documentary, as well as their previous one, Cowspiracy, is really well done. I do think some people involved with the American Heart Association, etc. have good intentions but often upper management puts profit over people. That, of course, is really unfortunately. The good news is that as a RN, I have seen people's lives transform before me using a whole food, plant-based (vegan) diet. It's not a magic cure-all but works remarkably well for most of the chronic diseases killing Americans. If you haven't already, I would encourage everyone to try a plant-based diet for 30 days and then judge for yourself. Make sure to notify your physician, especially if you're on high blood pressure or diabetes medications as some adjustments may need to be made. There are tons of great resources out their to guide you that I have included below.

It was a good watch, again learned some new stuff, had some good points, good meaning behind some of it, but I don't think this one was fully accurate, like fats, specially good fats leading to diabetes. I've researched so much about bad health etc and It comes down mostly because of too much sugar, specially processed sugar, that you can get in proceed carbs and too much leads to Insulin resistance, and an infected insulin leads to diabetes, and many more illness so I've got to disagree that fats are the main lead to diabetes or even course diabetes. I believe everyone is different so they Isn't one diet for all, because everyone will have different effects. Example: A burger can be a salad to someone, and a salad can be a burger to someone and so on.

a lot of unsubstantiated bull. Common since says balance is key. all his claims about dairy and meat were extreme cases. eating excess anything could get you killed. Also, the guy irritating different companies is not really an argument.
anyway... I bet there are better "vegan" documentaries out there. so my personal recommendation would be skip this one.

>"We’re not taught about the power of food in medical school. No one is taught that the changes that we make with our diet are probably the single most powerful thing we can do to determine our destiny."

This documentary was pretty interesting. I am not sure how I feel about certain statements like "1 egg is as bad as smoking 5 cigarettes" but I do think that we need to be careful about what we eat. The bigger issue shown was how all these non-profit organizations are for our health and they take donations/sponsorships from all these companies and lobbyists.
