A nicely made sci-fi show. Some new ideas here and there and some borrowed from others. I liked the story, the characters, the performance was good, the effects and designs were good. Just don't watch it with the English dub.

Its a decent show, but much of the hype is more due to the fact that its a korean show that its actual quality.

It is above average, but doesn't rise to excellency.

Difficult one to review. Starts really nice and then loses itself in the middle.
Really liked the visuals and the music, the SFX are also pretty nice.
Didn't like the actors at all, found that they were not convincing at all. [spoiler] For example the captain: "Your whole crew is dying, captain! What shall we do?". The captain just rises an eyebrow...[/spoiler]
There are also a lot of plot holes: [spoiler] Why does the lift suddenly start to work, when they are working in the shaft? You get the feeling, that the moon would be "living", and then...no word again about that[/spoiler]
And one star less for (bad) copying Aliens: [spoiler] "Sir, there's something moving on the radar! And it's fast!" Beep Beep "It's getting nearer!" BeepBeepBeep "Oh, it's just a little girl who is hiding!"
And I was like "Oh no! Soooo cheap!"[/spoiler]

Alien vs Predator vibe (when you are playing as marine...). Otherwise with scientifically dumb ideas and somewhat unprofessional crew, but that's typical for many sci-fi today.

I don't really understand some bad reviews, but for me The Silent Sea was very good, I couldn't stop watching it.
It has some fresh ideas and loved all of them. Hope the second season comes soon!

I started watching this series because it kept appearing on the Netflix home; partly out of curiosity and partly because I didn't have other series to see, I started the first episode... I couldn't get away from the screen.
I really like both series and movies that deal with space, science fiction, mysteries, but no one has ever taken me so much. The story is very well written, I don't think I can find places where the story falls or becomes boring. The twists are very interesting and the characters are amazing, especially Han, one of the protagonists.
I find that the result is nothing short of exceptional, I really wish there was a sequel to find some characters but the story is over and also with a satisfying ending.
Highly recommended for all those passionate about the genre and who want to see something engaging.

The first half of the show is set up quite well, especially in tone and atmosphere. The second half loses that charm and mystique for by-the-books action set pieces and melodrama. It could've done so much better. Sigh.

It's a pretty good story. Executed well. I do have to mention tho, it has some of the funniest (bad) lunar surface walking though. That's a funny observation, not a complaint :).

7-8 :heart: = I expect you will like this too
9-10 :heart: = movies and TV shows I really love!

The show needs a whole lot of "suspension of disbelief" and certainly has it's flaws but overall I enjoyed the characters and story. Worth a watch esp since it's something "different" for a K-Drama with a setting not seen before.

I rarely score 10 out of 10, but I loved it.

Any Doctor Who fans will immediately notice this is basically a modern version of the episode The Waters of Mars. Which on its own was a fantastic episode.

They’ve actually transformed the story in to an action packed and well written Sci-fi Adventure.

My only gripe was the last 20 minutes of the final episode which dragged on trying to appeal to your emotions.

I won’t say anything further, except to encourage you to watch in the hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Don’t be put off with the fact it’s foreign and dubbed. South Korean films and Tv shows are on the whole brilliant and on parr with blockbuster movies etc. They have such refreshing and new ideas for sci-fi and fantasy, albeit this was taken from Doctor Who, which is their most popular foreign TV Show. For well dubbed copies use Netflix, after 5 mins you won’t notice it’s dubbed, except for an odd few films etc.

It's a pity they spend all this money on special effects but don't bother employing anyone with actual space knowledge to make it realistic, first episode in and we're going to the moon in a shuttle and the booster rocket stays attached until they are almost there but a bolt rattles looses at the point where it wouldn't. Then we're on the moon surface looking into the direction of the sun with clear visors.
