Started strong but in Ep 5 Im already checked out. The plot just fell apart and I couldn't care less about any of the characters including the Sheriff chick. Silo had a great concept but they don't have the script to support it and it's following an unfortunate trend of contemporary tv series where they launch with high hopes and dissolve into oblivion 5/10

Agree completely with your review, and I'm pulling the plug on this show after the 5th episode. Just read ahead on what ultimately ends up happening at season's end, & I'm glad to be able to save my time and watch something else more interesting to me.

@teer-ertete It's actually based on a book. You should stick with it - it gets solid in the end.

SUPER excited for this. The Silo series books were fantastic, and I always thought they would make a great movie or show. Fingers crossed that the show is just as interesting as the books!

What a shit show. The first episode has more sex scenes than the average pornhub video. Cant you tell a damn story without putting a sex scene every 5 minutes? Also within the first episode people acting like absolute fools, not believable at all.

@tomekad truman show + snowpiercer is a good comparison. the books (also called Silo) are terrific. i tore through them and read a bunch of Hugh Howie's other stuff and really enjoyed it. i feel like if you like Silo, you'll enjoy Shell Collector as well.

@tomekad the good or bad way? ^^ i had to quit Snowpiercer (the show), because it was too boring (another reason could be that i have already known the storyline tbh).

The 1st episode was promising. The 2nd was solid. The next 5 were completely and utterly slow, boring, and barely relevant. Abandoned.

@davort its also not canon from the novel which might explain why it was such a poor episode.

Starts superbly, first sheriff (Oyelowo) great character but dies too soon living a huge gap and his death really impacted audience and plot. Will Patton is reduced to a drunken fool dies too soon and we're left with Ferguson who is an ok actress but not a protagonist. But if it has to be a white protagonist it better be a woman that's also not too feminine. Right? Typical woke crap, all men are either retarded or evil, women are the best, run everything lift everything, do what men do BETTER blah blah blah blah. Completely wasted Tim Robbins, as a side character until ep8. I guess he is too manly amd too white to have more screen time. All plot, backstories and support characters are 100% NPCs. I couldn't care less if they live or die, including Nichols' early years. Boring snoozfest! After episode 3 SKIP to 8 and then watch the "revelation" on ep 9, which makes no differetin the overall pkot. As for the ending... Worse than Lost's. It's a wasteland, no it's not but it is, but it's not but it is. Total nonsense. 4/10

[tv+] Without a doubt, it's the Apple's best foray into the science-fiction genre, an approach to a dystopian society that is based on George Orwell's "1984" raising questions about populism, control of the female body, and the construction of a state that keeps secrets to build coexistence. There's outstanding suspense management, as in episode 3, and a proper balance between personal traumas and the overview of a silo holding on fragile basis. Although sometimes it's too obvious, especially towards the end, it has a coherent ending to broaden the field of vision of its main themes.

Two episodes released and what a good start for this TV show. This seems to be based on a post apocalyptic world of some sorte and they live in a Silo, apparently ruled by Justice.

I haven't read the books so I don't know if the series are doing them any justice.

But based on this 2 eps alone I say this is looking as a very good show, let's up the quality keeps going up or at least the same as the first 2 episodes.

@dekztah I love it because apocalypse is my favorite genre, but this show is different from the rest, and it also has a lot of mystery; I wouldn't say it's very predictable. If it's so predictable, then what is the truth of what's going on outside the bunker?

@bkrnk this is just an opinion. and there was no better way to express myself other than being angry. in today's world with x million tv series that were made for people to consume, this is just the low effort segment. for me. i'm just one random person on the internet. did not want to offend anyone

Starting to wonder if this is some kind of undercut before the Fallout series get released. Won't complain tho; the premise looks good. Hopefully more science fiction than just the drama. Too many movies and series that sell themselves as such often tend to be more drama or even crime than honest science fiction.

I haven't read the books. I don't know much about this series at all other than its a scifi. I like most scifi so long as the story is well told, acted okay, and generally not get too ridiculously stupid. The mystery is (over the first two episodes) well paced and it's giving us just the right amount of hooks to keep us going.

My question is why do they go out in protective suits? My first thought would be to provide a nice cocktail of hallucinogens and poison, but that's too obvious and predictable.

Then of course the are other major questions that arise like obtaining raw resources, but I guess things like that may get answered as we go along. But I guess Gilligan's Island went for quite a while without answering some major sticking points... but that's another story.

Episode 3's generator event must be one of the most mind numbingly stupid scenes that I have ever seen.

What were the writers writing? Even a child would know, out of instinct, to not do what the main character was doing. It simply breaks the laws of physics and has nothing to do with reality.

Not to mention the engineering aspects of the rest of the design and the so-called fixes and repairs applied, which are just ridiculous.

It's not about suspension of disbelief, it's about sheer stupidity. This episode makes me want to stop watching.

@latherzgrond Why are you taking the small details so seriously? What did the main character do wrong, and how did they break the laws of physics? That scene had me on the edge of my seat, I thought it was very good.

@jesusisking Go touch the outer door of your oven when you're cooking something. You won't be able to keep your hand there for too long.

Now imagine taking a hose to spray water to try to cool off a steel door that is burning red inside a very small room. Simply put, she'd be cooked/burnt/boiled alive.

It's not "small details, it's immersion breaking, fantastically absurd and illogical.

@latherzgrond I agree. What were those turbine blades for exactly? They are just spinning in open air! And the steam? When the valve is opened and the steam is released, it goes where? Not pushing against the turbine blades evidently.

I guess is would have made more sense if they had put the covers back on before releasing the steam, but they removed the covers before shutting off the steam in the first place, so ?

And how does putting water on the valve reduce the pressure behind it? But then, they're looking at a pressure gauge ('bar'), and saying "It's overheating way faster than we thought", so temperature/pressure are interchangeable?

@latherzgrond LOL dude, from what I see, you're the one needing some physics classes with a focus on thermodynamics. There is no way to build up steam with that flow of cold water on top of it. You should try watching a some metal factory videos where these kinds of interactions happen daily. The biggest mistake in this scene is actually that she could hold a fire hose by herself, which is impossible.
