Great movie but one that will raise your blood pressure. People sitting thousands of miles away worried more about political ramifications than the lives of people under immediate threat of being killed. This movie should unite all people regardless of political views.

No matter your political views or what you think really happened in Benghazi this was a well executed war/combat movie. Of course Michael Bay will use the typical slow mo on the American flag here and there but all in all this was solid movie making with a director at the helm that was able to capture the chaos and insanity of firefights where you can't tell your enemies from your friendlies.

Spectacular effects with a weak grip on realism. What do you expect from a Michael Bay film?

"This is a true story", but no doubt the real details are less…Hollywood.

Dumb dialogues, even dumber decisions. "Based on a true story" certainly doesn't prevent that Mr. Bay fucks up whatever sad rest of a story he keeps in his movies.
Black Hawk Down was a masterpiece, 13 Hours is average at best. And that they both achieve 79% on trakt, is nothing but an insult to BHD.

It is a trademark Michael Bay movie. A great tribute to those who lost their lives in Benghazi due to the collective incompetence of Obama and Hillary.

Michael Bay "factual dramatization" of the pear shaped shiz show that occurred when an American Ambassador, believing in his own rhetoric, and the supposed good will of the people of Libya, whom the US had just helped rid of their dictator for life, Qaddafi, decides to a victory lap with C-Team security, and then has to be rescued by the A-Team operators, stationed at a "clandestine" CIA compound. approximately a mile away. It shows that believing in rainbows and unicorns, or that the then Obama administration (w/VP Joe Biden) and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, would get their backs if things went sideways, rather that protect their own sordid political careers was, and still is an exercise in futility.

It also proves that 7 well trained, highly motivated, former military operators with a minimum of weaponry and virtually no other support can "rain hate and destruction" on an opposing force 20x it's size, and, if the bureaucrats had just gotten out of their way, they might have pulled off the rescue with little to no casualties.

As @Wurlitzer28 stated, it will however make your blood boil,..., especially at how short the American voters memories are. SMFH!!!

This is a Michael Bay film. Treat it as one. It may have been (very) loosely based on some real events, but this film is not interested in nuance in the least. It's all about explosions, bullets, headshots, testosterone, quips, and some good ol' jingoism. With all that in mind, if you treat this as a video game in film form and watch it with a thunderous sound system, you'll probably enjoy it. That's how I watched it and I didn't hate it...but your mileage may vary.

Surprisingly tolerable, considering the director. I did not find it as touching as some others who have commented apparently did - as I saw it, there were some minimal efforts to humanize the Americans, and no effort at all to humanize the locals, which made every character feel plastic despite the good work of the actors. It was very difficult to believe these were based off real people, and very hard to care about them, even after following them up close for 2 hours. Nonetheless, the movie looks great and visually convincing (no silly CGI this time, or was it just better than what usually appears on Bay's movies?), the pace is great, the movie did convey the proper atmosphere, and the dialogue was alright. I did not even mind the cliches, and although some political context and background could have made it a more interesting movie, I found it quite entertaining.
