heavy-handed scores taking more of a leading role in establishing a scene's mood vs a supportive role is something that often grinds my gears (most recent example being the flourishing score in a steamy scene in the first episode of AMC's _Interview with the Vampire_ series instead of letting the on-screen action (_heh_) and nat sound do the work). 1976 has a loud, very leading score that really dials up the tension...and yet...I liked it! reading some mixed/polarized thoughts among early viewers but the score really takes simple, innocent scenes (kids frolicking and playing in a beachside forest) and turns into something menacing with a repetitive, clicking and clacking score, without the score the scene would play completely differently and because of that I really liked its use
