King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) leads 300 Spartans into battle against the Persian King Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) and 300,000 of his Persian soldiers.

Zack Snyder has managed to adapt Frank Miller's novel in such a stylish way. The imagery is captured and presented in comic book fashion and is simply amazing. The visuals and colouring work really well look stunning. The score also really compliments the visuals and the incredible camera work.

I am not a fan for slow-mo use, but it worked really well during battle scenes. It was so gory; it was awesome to watch. I just wish the slower paced scenes were as good as the battle sequences. It did have a little issue with pacing, but it can be forgiven.

Gerard Butler is the standout performer as expected, he was superb. He delivered such a energic and charismatic performance that I don't think anyone else managed to match in my opinion. He embraced the role of a Spartan like a true warrior in the way he looked, but also in the way he delivered his lines. I can't think of another actor that could have done a better job in such a role. I'm not sure how I felt about Dominic Cooper, he just didn't feel write in this universe. This film lacked more great characters to go alongside Butler. While still some good performances, the actual characters themselves were not that memorable to me. Rodrigo Santoro is definitely a contender to match Butler as he was really good as the king. His appearance was frightening.

I won't go into how accurate this film is because simply I didn't care if it was or wasn't. It is dark, wonderful, and really cool at the same time. 6/10.
