Wow. What a fantastically overlooked piece of cinema. It had me on the edge for about 3/4 of the movie. Way way better than the shallows including the acting. This was short of Jaws but better than most other shark films.
Just when you think you know what is going on, there goes the rug....

Not quite as good as The Shallows but about the same.

Another movie that portrays sharks as sadistic serial killers, but hey at least this one has a decent story line and an actual plot twist that makes it fun to watch. Also Claire Holt is babe.

Although the shots were beautifully done, this movie should be renamed to (s)ex machina on the beach.

@pipeinformatico Nope! Metric all the way :) Feet and yards don't tell me much.

I enjoyed the twist ending, however, I felt like alot of the movie was drawn out filler content. First 3/4 of the movie was standard "Jaws esque" content.

The shark thing has been overdone but for some reason I can't stop watching these films. I think it's because they play on some of people's biggest fear of open water and the unknown.
This film starts off terribly, its extremely cheesy and the acting is cringe worthy. Once they get into the water it picks up.
However, It's a bit slow and there is a lot of over the top acting on display. It's a slow burn and more psychological then gore focused.
The most frustrating thing is the twist is teased from the start so people know it's a thing. So you know it's going to happen. I personally would of left the film there to give a sense of the unknown. The way they ended it only added to my frustration of how the film went.
A wasted opportunity here.

Don't bother with this movie with silly people doing silly things and silly sharks not eating the silly people. You know it's bad when the diver tries to hide behind a rock to avoid the shark that can quite clearly see their oxygen tank bubbles. Really?! Please, go watch The Shallows instead, which is a far superior film where you actually care what happens to the people.

What a load of crap!!! Seriously, a beginner diver can poke holes in how many rules are broken before they've even gotten into the water. And rule number one: recreation divers are not to go below 100 feet (30 metres). The story beyond that sucks too. Do not waste you time with this!!

A lot of people are comparing it to The Shallows (2016) which is far enough as they have a lot of things in common.
I'm a big fan of movies set in one place throughout the whole thing so naturally I felt inclined to watch this. It was a while ago since I watched The Shallows so my memory of it might be a bit muddy but I think this one is actually better.
Without comparing it to any other movie it's still pretty good. I always try to judge a movie based on what it's trying to be and what it's trying to achieve. It was suspenseful and made me feel a bit claustrophobic, which in this case is a good thing, really adds to the panic of the situation. It took a few twists and turns that I didn't expect so props for that. It's not a masterpiece but for what it's trying to be it's really good.
