My favorite film because you can wacht the real life and not a fantasy romance.

Reality versus expectation. Expectations are future resentments. The protagonist carries a lot of resentment. It’s the exploration of this, and his internal fears, that make this movie grand. Summer was not a bitch. He just wasn’t listening.

@AshkanLuqman for the film yes. for the general story, both will be better in my mind, where it goes for 5000 rather than 500 days, and they magically get back together. happened to my sister.

There's something to be said about a movie that can be funny, relatable and moving, all while being an easy watch. I probably watched it 4+ times. If it was possible I'd rate it 11 for the soundtrack.

There are some interesting artistic choices in this film that is worth watching for, but it gets irritating if you watch it more than once.

An emotional journey, full of ups and downs, and a great lesson hidden underneath. Incredible direction, great acting and engaging plot made for an enjoyable watch.

Not your typical romance movie. It's a unique twist on one though. It's a very cute emotional heart warming and breaking roller coaster. The premise is basically a tutorial on a piece of the complicated thing we call "love," as it teaches a lesson on the "meant to be" fiasco. The only negative comment I have for this film is that it was a bit short and the flashbacks throughout the "500 days" was a bit all over the place, which is supposed to be the premise of the story, but was still a bit hard/confusing to follow.

Reality is never as good as our expectations.

Yeah yeah, Summer is a bitch but Tom is a controlling asshole who has unrealistic expectations. It's still a good movie that does a lot of interesting things.

Haven't seen this film in years, and forgot what it was about. Now, wiser, I fully understand the depth of the film. The film was good, but I absolutely hated the fact how Summer was misinterpreted as the "bitch" of the plot in the beginning.
Towards the end, it was made much clearer that neither Summer, nor Tom, was at fault.
It's not good in the current world to categorise men into masculine and women into feminine. There are many variety of people nowadays, and every person has each way of attitude towards his/her life. American films attempt to break many stereotypes and this movie maybe one of them. Some are romantic, but others are not. Some want serious relationships with their boyfriends/girlfriends but others don't. I'm sure the film is a new textbook for those who cannot understand human behaviour and who worry about their romantic relationships.

Oh my god Summer is probably the most self centered idiot I've seen in any movie ever. The amount of mental manipulation and toxicity she gave off was dumb as fuck. I don't care how "realistic" this movie was meant to be, her character was terrible and Tom deserved better.

The proverb says "perception is reality," but if that's the case we're all living in a world of our own. By way of a repeatedly time-hopping narrative, this film addresses the competing perspectives present in every long-term relationship, and how something as innocuous as a smile can be interpreted completely differently by the two people sharing it.

With a ton of post-production tricks and editing stunts, it runs the risk of being over-conceptual and spoiled, but by keeping a steady focus on that one central point it all winds up complimenting the message nicely. Zooey Deschanel plays her typical hip, quirky character (if you're not already a fan of her act, she won't convince you otherwise here) and her pairing with Joseph Gordon-Levitt feels fun and natural while it lasts. Both characters are thoroughly rounded, with neither taking all the blame for their relationship's trials and tribulations - a rarity for directorial confessionals - and they're accompanied along the way by a dynamite soundtrack.
