I waited for this movie for ages but wow. What a disappointment. The backgrounds were so beautiful but the dogs and humans were creepy and ugly. In one scene, there is a fire and it looks so fucking bad. Like a zoomed in gif. Oh my god.

The audio was terrible. They needed someone, anyone, to mix it properly. The voices were drowned out by music that they just cranked to 11 when there was a tense scene. It was almost deafening. There was music over voices lines as well. What was the point of that? If you didn't have subtitles you wouldn't have even known they had spoken.

The story was way too long and just stressed me out. MoongChi is a dog who lived with his family until his owner dumps him in the middle of a mountain range as it's a common area to dump unwanted pets(?) Which is so fucked up. I can't believe that was part of the plot. The next dog dumped has an illness and ends up dying. The various dogs live together divided by a fence on a mountainside until the town gets redeveloped and they are forced to escape. They eventually find a safe area to live on, but are discovered by the same psychopathic dog hunter. Bam-I has ptsd from being his pet dog and cant fight back. Tori and Moong-Chi get tranqued and Moong-Chi gets given a tracking chip so they can use him to find the rest of the dogs.

They get caught again in a safe field but the hunter's gun lights the field on fire. They escape and head to the safe human-free land that the German Shepherd keeps talking about. It's the border between n and s Korea. He used to be a soldier and was for some reason abandoned. They have some goofy scene where the all finally get across the fence with sound levels that destroyed the speakers.

It's at least 50 minutes shorter than a typical Korean film but felt just as long. The ending credit animation was so cute and lovely and would have made a good style for this film. Unfortunately I had to leave.
