Most remakes don’t live up to the original. But certainly this one surpasses all the previous ones. Proof of it, it’s the fact that I have never been able to watch a musical without walking out until l watched this movie.

The movie shows how much Lady Gaga has grown as an artist, probably becoming the best and most versatile voices of the XXI yet. She is able to reinvent herself every other day in a way very few artists throughout history have been to do it.

I was not a “fan” of her. She made me curious when I heard her duets with Tony Bennett, but now after seeing her ”natural looks” and the way she is able to sing and act, **she has finally won me over**.

I would advise not passing on either the movie or original sound track.

@abetancort a 10, really? So, for you, this movie is better than Sicario, Inside Out and The martian? What is your evaluation criteria?

@jrzbraga Rationale, it has been the first musical ever with which has not made me get up and leave the theater.. By the way, I have gone to watch a lot them because my wife is very fond of the genre. And when I gave the rating I didn’t compare the movie to others outside of its own genre.

I don't get all the hype for this movie. Sure, the music is great, the acting and the chemistry between the leads are good, but the story itself is nothing special. It draged for a while and I was a bit bored. The most exciting moment for me was Brandi Carlile's cameo.

_A Star Is Born_ is like a rock concert by a group a friend of yours loves. The energy emanating from the music and everything involving the music is gold, but the chatter between the songs goes on too long, is dull and drags down the mood with its predictability.

The first act is definitely the strongest and, not surprisingly, is where we find the most music. There are even moments reminiscent of the extraordinary anti-musical musical _Once_. After that, though, the film becomes too bogged down in a story that holds as many surprises as a Back Street Boys reunion tour.

Lady Gaga acts as well as Bradley Cooper sings, which is to say well enough to pull off this film but the Oscar buzz is from listening to the soundtrack too loud because that's where the real talent is.

Had this film cut about 20 minutes, I could've saved time clamouring for an encore I didn't really want to stay for. As it is, I caught myself checking my watch and wondering how bad the traffic would be on the way home.

I got goosebumps every time I saw this trailer as Ally came out to sing Shallow and I got goosebumps in the movie too. This is just incredible. I'm blown away by Bradley Cooper. Not only does he do an amazing job directing, he gives an oscar worthy performance and he is a pretty good singer too. Lady Gaga was phenomenal and together they have fantastic chemistry. Shout out to Sam Elliott and Dave Chappelle who both are really good too. I had a wide range of emotions while watching this. The first act with all the music is the best and just a delight to watch. The third act was heartbreaking. My only complaint is that it is a little too long. Still this is a very special movie. Now I'm going to go listen to Shallow again.

Incredible movie with incredible performances, the characters are believable and relatable, grounded. The soundtrack is, for the most part, deeply personal and relevant, which almost makes it crushing.
