The core of this movie is great, but unfortunately it takes both the most predictable, least interesting, and most frustrating turn in its later half.

Olivia Wilde as an abused woman who chooses to deal with her anguish by helping other women currently being abused is compelling, and immediately drew me in.

This movie would have worked so much better if that's what it was ultimately about - dealing with her own trauma, by helping others with theirs. Unfortunately that's not the route the movie takes, and instead makes it necessary for her to predicably confront her own abuser from years ago, losing much of the agency her character has built up throughout the movie in the process.

A movie with a strong start, decent momentum, and a terribly disappointing ending.

This just wasn't very good at all. It has the aura of a made for tv Lifetime feature.
Extremely predictable.

Somehow there's a punching bag mounted in every motel room she stays in and that's really the only premise the audience gets for her being a total kung fu badass.
It's like they realize how they couldn't possibly justify how she suddenly went from panic attack abuse victim to Ms Wick so when she finally confront her abuser they simply cut to him being choked out on the floor despite he being twice her size and her having one of her hands broken.
_A Vigilante_ is an intriguing and film that explores the theme of domestic abuse and the role of vigilante justice. While the acting is adequate, the plot is the real star of the show, with a unique storyline that has some intense scenes. The film is not for everybody, as there are some disturbing scenes that accurately portray the trauma and violence of domestic abuse. However, these scenes are necessary to fully appreciate the gravity of the situation and the importance of Sadie's mission.

A dark story where Olivia Wilde can actually act, this is what strong women should look like on film. No over the top fight scenes with unbelievable strength, I enjoyed it.

This movie was just so-so. It's basically a female Equalizer who only deals with one type of crime. Overall it was mostly a TV movie.

How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!

The problem with this film isn't Olivia Wilde's totally committed and believable performance.

The problem is the 'Ken Loach takes on Rambo' story. Either make a traumatic, realistic film about men abusing their wives, or make an over-the-top action movie about a woman who's escaped the vicious circle of abuse on a mission to protect women still in it. But make a realistic movie based on the premise that abusers and rapists run away forever or turn over a new leaf because a woman beats them up once...?

There’s probably some sensitivity in taking on a revenge violence film that may seem to glorify or justify violence. Most action films don’t give a crap about sending dangerous messages, and just dish up revenge violence by the bucket loads and it all feels pretty good and cathartic to see bad guys get their come-uppance, and I enjoy a lot of those films.

This film aims for a different market. It highlights and portrays domestic violence realistically, and especially the grief and trauma victims carry as baggage, but doesn’t go nuts on highlighting or validating the violence.

When Olivia Wilde’s character seeks vengeance for herself, or to assist someone else, you don’t see the act of violence as much as you see the after effects. You DO see some of the violence done TO her but not much BY her. Not that it’s insipid or sanitised. There is violence, some of it harrowing, and there is some come-uppance.

I quite enjoyed this. It didn’t censor, water down or mitigate the violence, but with a few editing and narrative options not always used in a thriller or action flick, it gave a different perspective that was powerful without being sensationalist.

Olivia Wilde stars in the revenge thriller A Vigilante. The story follows an abuse victim turned vigilante named Sadie who helps other abuse victims get free of their abusers (maybe). The storytelling really isn’t that good, as it kind of just jumps randomly into different scenes from Sadie’s missions without getting into the context (whether she’s doling out punishment, helping victims escape, or eliminating abusers). Still, Wilde gives an incredibly strong performance (both physically and emotionally). And there’s some mystery and intrigue to trying to figure out Sadie’s backstory and how she become a vigilante. A Vigilante is an interesting indie drama, but it falls a little short and doesn’t quite come together that well.

Sarah Daggar-Nickson comes out of the gate strong with her first feature. I really look forward to seeing more from her.

Olivia Wilde is a raw and brutal force in her best performance to date. I hope this is the start of more leading roles.

This movie should have been called, "The Trucks Won't Stop." More artistic than thriller, the premise is bold but not that believable. Last quarter of the movie was a super slow revenge bit. I don't recommend.

I expected a femalee Death Wish. Instead, I received an emotionally complex, raw, and non-sensationalistic drama that felt real. Admittedly, it does take a turn for the generic later on, but even then, it does so without resorting to exploitative bs.

starts out good, nice sad back story but, gets a little weak halfway in and then the ending is even weaker. No better or worse then the movies the men make. Its ok.

It was curious to see Olivia Wilde fighting, I think she abuses the artistic planes to give her depth. The final part does not make sense. Olivia Wilde fine
