This relationship between mother, daughter and visitor is carefully constructed, with slow steps that establish the connection. The director, aided by outstanding cinematography and two notable performances, uses light and traditional pastries from Morocco as a vehicle of union. This relationship is sometimes a kind of seduction. And the description of the bond between mother and newborn is magnificent.

What if a feminist film wasn't about women becoming CEOs or fighting bad guys or rape & revenge but instead was about women holding each other up, helping each other out and supporting each other? Then it would be called _Adam_ and it would be a Moroccan blessing. Anything else I could say about the plot would sound so much more cliché than the magic that director Maryam Touzani makes on the screen that I prefer to shut up now and simply recommend this film.
