Emotions fly high in the movie from the start and never stop. It's an absolute brilliance the movie has that holds the viewer and his emotions together, not for a second are you not curious about what's gonna happen next. Now as an Indian, I'm not sure if the Indian orphanage thing was important to the plot, but it sure as hell as added a layer to it which also juxtaposes the differences between the two countries. Watching it in 2023, there was also an element of nostalgia about the time when i was a little 6 year old in 2006 when the movie was released and it was great to see my own country first-hand and the little glimpses of the culture, it made me feel at home and have great respect for the character of Mads. All in all - a wonderful experience.

I wouldn't quite rate it as highly as some have online, but I do agree that 'After the Wedding' is a great film!

It took me a little while to warm to this but eventually I had a positive time watching it, it even manages to pack a more emotional punch towards the end... it genuinely had me feeling sad for the characters. The flick probably overruns slightly as it could've reached the aforementioned conclusion quicker, but that's a very small criticism.

Mads Mikkelsen, Sidse Babett Knudsen and Stine Fischer Christensen are big performers throughout, credit to all three of them. Rolf Lassgård is, however, the star of the show in my opinion - a top notch performance, particularly for the crux of the plot. I felt his character's emotion.

I did almost agree with many others online by giving it around 9/10, though I settled on 8/10... it's not far off, I admit. Either way, and more pertinently, it's a film that holds quality.

I saw the movie. It is very difficult to sympathize with the actors. Maybe it's a form of my feelings. If after all this time I saw that I had a girl, I would shed tears of joy and smell her and kiss her and not separate from myself, but I witnessed a very cold game and it is hard for me to believe. Maybe it's from different cultures. The film was good, but it did not arouse my emotions. Is the mission of cinema other than to arouse the audience? No no no I can not watch this cold, icy and dry movie for the second time.

This film is an absolutely brilliant slow burn. It is also brilliantly cast – the main character’s dour personality really sets the tone for the rest of the film. Even though the film only takes place over a few days you really feel an urgency to solve the various mysteries that are slowly revealed to the viewer. While you can see the final conflict coming from ten miles away the resolution was something that was unexpected and brilliantly addresses one of the central philosophical questions in the movie. I loved it.

Great movie simple and realistic with some great perfomances. 7.6/10
