I wonder why people cannot accept others who have different opinions. Intolerance has been repeated in our history, and a number of people were killed by people's intolerance. Unfortunately, there is no day when you do not see such news. I remember a phrase by Kazoo Watanabe, which is "Should the tolerant be intolerant of the intolerant in order to defend themselves?"

So much crying! It's the same thing it's happening with daesh now. Every fanatism is the same, ignorant and violent. History repeats.
The movie is really well done, vfx, actors, direction.... just perfect and moving!

@saraf I totally agree with you. Fantasm is so wrong. As is abuse of belief. And over-generalisation about a religion from one believer.

Great cinematography, terrific acting and moving story. It is very relatable to today's bigotry to the changes. Though the movie kinda depict Christians in bad terms (with them seem to be the most fundamentalist and destructive), it also shows that even the most "intellectual" ones, the pagans, are not sinless from the guilt of bigotry (shown early in the movie). Under the pretext of "absolute truth", whether it's god or science, anyone can be a bigot, similar to today's debate of the pious vs the godless.

Why can't I edit my post? Just want to mention that one interesting aspect of this movie is that this, unlike many Roman Empire movies, highlight the social history instead of the great political and military history we all are already accustomed to.

Huh. When I wrote this review I seem to be focusing too much on the modern parallels and forgetting to mention that, while this movie is good and all, this is not a history lesson and should not be seen as such. Events depicted in Agora is not exactly accurate and is leaving intricate details such as the Christians aren't really like a modern day bigot who despise science (Tertullian, Augustine, Severus, they all are men of science) and in the world where faith reigns so far, Hypatia was also a devout believer of Roman religion. So though it serves as an useful reflection of modern problem, be careful to pick this movie as an understanding of ancient history.

For anyone watched this movie I'll give you a small advice read the book Azazel by the Egyptian writer Youssef Zidan it perfectly describes everything and it's from another perspective and it's one of my favourite books

Isn't that different person altogether? "Hypa", not "Hypatia"

The actor list is missing Maltese actor Charles Thake. Can you please add him? Thanks
