The music is good (if you're a fan of Celine Dion) but other than that not the best biography movie out there. It was boring most of the time. Guess after all the hard lives of Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin to marry a somewhat older man isn't that shocking

Céline Dion: A Karaoke Biopic

The film _Aline_ is a delusional mental patient who believes she's really a famous person: The most interesting thing about her is how insane she is.

I imagine but have absolutely no proof that French actress / writer / director Valérie Lemercier went to Céline Dion and asked for the rights to her life story, and when the Canadian chanteuse refused, Lemercier said, "Fuck it, I'll do it anyway, I'll just change your name."

So, instead of Céline Dion we have a biopic about Aline Dieu, an international pop star whose life is a photocopy of Dion's. (The posters specify the film is a work of fiction loosely inspired by the life of Céline Dion.)

What stands out on this audacious project is the decision to have 57-year-old Lemercier perform the scenes of Dion singing at 16 years old, 13 years old, even 5 years old (!) and then **shrink her with CGI in post production**! I swear to God, seeing that was the weirdly pleasant stink emanating off this mimeographed biography.

I have to agree. I have Celine on my playlist and she doesn't deserve that kind of "shit". It's possibly even worse than the 1992 French film version of Céline. I like biopics and Celine will have to wait for tn "its" time. The best summary so far is probably the 2010 Celine music documentary: Through the Eyes of the World.
