Solid but not memorable drama about a young French girl who decides to go to Seoul and track down her biological parents who gave her up for adoption.

Park Ji-min is wonderful as the central character Freddie who seems to be a little arrogant, insecure and in search of an identity and belonging. The film explores the diaspora of Koreans and adopted children and how it must affect them. There just wasn't too much to get emotionally invested in. I wanted to be hit for six at some point, but it all became a little drab and uneventful.

It‘s hard for me to rate this movie. Right after finishing I didn‘t like it much. The main character is extremely unlikeable and the acting sometimes struck me as strange.

But I kept thinking about it and it grew on me. It certainly left an impression.

Another comment called it disjointed, but it‘s not difficult to fill in the gaps in between the time skips. We get to see shards of a broken person‘s life. I think it adds to the overall experience.

So yeah, I think it’s worth a watch.

More disjointed than a contortionist in a de-boning machine.
