I'll get right to it - I really loved this film. It is very much a "talkie" character drama that is slow and sure in its pacing. The female lead is sweet and innocent and this actually gave the film the same kind of feel for the first two thirds of the film. It was odd in that the film really didn't throw any surprises and you seemed to know where it was going and you were ok with that. The last act is.... not that. I can't think of another movie I have seen that I wanted so badly to be over. There were several moments when I was wishing the credits would roll, but the movie persisted. It's as if the film maker - by which, I mean David Gordon Green - was actively trying to make the audience hate the film.
