American Pie was released 20 damn years ago. It used to be one of my favorite films when I was around 12/13 and throughout my puberty. The music, the humor, Nadia, Stifler, Eugene Levy, the apple pie scene, everything worked for young me.

But now that I'm 30 and reading about American Pie being 20 years old already, I thought it could be a good time to revisit the main slices of American Pie as I've never seen the straight to dvd ones.

Anyway, the charm is still there for me and now there is nostalgia too. I still could dream the film and every joke coming up, most of the lines and in the end, those 90 minutes flew by. I don't find it as funny as it was 15 years ago when I was in full 15 year old puberty. But it has its moments.

I like the cast, Eugene Levy is the best, Stifler is still Stifler and at the end, they almost all got laid before they graduated.

Absolute classic. The entire series is awesome, even the spinoffs. Been a while since I watched the series, time to work through them. #1 of 8 movies. The origin of the acronym MILF!!!!

Revisiting teen sex comedies from your youth is a strange exercise. I caught back up with the first American Pie, a movie I had seen so many times after it came out when I was 14. I was surprised at how many of the lines and the plot was still living rent free in my brain. However, the story is no longer able to connect with me. I'm a very different person. I think there are some funny scenes and it's very quotable, but it's just too inconsistent in the acting and plot to elevate this to a good film in my book.

Been a very long time since I last saw this film. I still consider it to be a good film although some things are more cringe now and the dad has become more relatable.

@sage020 I found that too. However, the ending made me pause. When Jason Biggs is dancing on the webcam to Shannon Elizabeth, Eugene Levy appears to get turned on by his sons moves. Thankfully he turns the attention to the mother, but it was just odd.

After watching Thomas Ian Nicholas in an incredible bland ‘A Kid in King Arthur’s Court’ I needed to list my spirits by watching something better, and letting T.I.N. redeem himself here felt right. This is a comfort movie for me and I will surely watch it many more times in my life!

Rating: 5/5 (:star:) - 10/10 - Must See

“And this one time, at band camp...” American Pie re-launched the raunchy teen comedy, and delivered a hilarious yet touching coming-of-age tale. The story follows a group of high school friends that pledge to lose their virginity before they graduate and the shenanigans that they get into along the way. The film has an all-star cast that includes Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Tara Reid, and Mena Suvari. The performances are very strong, and feel genuine. Additionally, the soundtrack is especially good and is used quite effectively. However, there are a few parts of the film that don’t work and some of the humor hasn’t aged well. Raunchy comedy is a hard genre to pull off, but American Pie does a great job at delivering the laughs and developing interesting characters.

Good movie. But a better version of high school life would be Fast Times at Ridgemont High. This is water downed.

The first American Pie was hilarious funny and downright raunchy which works for a teen comedy like this. As I grew up since then and seen many films after this, looking back on this film from the late 1990's I can see the acting failed at times, more noticeably by Natasha Lyonne, but each one had their moments. I can't fault them, things in the movie business have changed since then; but nonetheless the cast was great and the story was well done. This film was born to become an instant classic. It really had shaped up some other movies like this in its wake, plus it created life to the term MILF which people use still to this day. Not many films can do that.

The pop punk of movies.
Shallow, phony, childish and faux-rebellious.
If you wanna make a movie about horny teenagers/college kids, cross the line and actually go raunchy in a way that's fun.
This is just so lame and painfully unfunny, trying desperately to pander to a certain kind of teenager.
Moreover, its messaging is truly fucking awful, it has aged horribly.

2.5/10

"It's like banging a tennis ball against a brick wall, which can be fun. It can be fun, but it's not a game.

American Pie is still one of my go to movies to just have fun. I know it isn't all that but I grew up with the film and nostalgic runs big on me with the first slice of the "American Pie".

I still love seeing Eugene Levy as Jim's dad, I still laugh at almost everything the Stiffmeister does, MILF, MILF, the soundtrack, blink-182!, the Sherminator will truly change the life of one lucky lady someday, the way Jason Biggs dances, BANDCAMP, the horrible acting of Thomas Ian Nicholas, Natasha Lyonne's Jessica would still hold up today! That little monkey, being used, Stifler's mom, like warm apple-pie, the scene where Jim shows off his vocabulary.

In the end American Pie still brings me a smile to my face and just shows that my sense of humor has trouble growing up. But heck, I laughed my ass off and that is what counts!
