I just recently finished reading the book, and against my better judgement I decided to watch the movie. Why do I do this to myself? The movie just kept making me madder and madder and I hadn't even gotten 15 minutes in. I'm sure for what it is, it was a decent movie... but having read the book it was 15 minutes of "NO! NO! That is NOT how it happened!" Ugh. Either read the book or see the movie. Don't do both. Save yourself the frustration.

Well, I read the book as well... though it's been several years since I did, so I was only mildly irritated. It was more like, wasn't there something about something that breaks your fall and wasn't that important in the later helicopter scene? The relations by blood were not mentioned, but that was not too bad for the storyline ... this Camerlengo wasn't mad about his father's failings and his hypocrite preaching, he was motivated by his own fanatic belief. The changes were really minor for the overall movie ^^ What made me flinge for a second was the fact that they did not have the cardinals proclaim him by adoration, but downright planed to do this. So he did, in fact, not become pope in the movie whereas he did in the book, however brief his 'reign' was.

@sarcasmsign Yeah, just got from book to the movie to and this was a bad decision. I think the movie is alright if you didn't read the book. In my case though it was a major let down due to too many changes and an overall too plane kind of story. Whereas the book takes its time to describe the reasoning behind the characters' actions.
