@shackra The creator(s) of this website could have easily added a single line of code to fix this issue that is all across Trakt.tv

@fluxcapacitor You cannot fix it and keep it proper... unless you have the resources to police all screenings. Some people just don't understand the rating function ;).

@sp1ti They have the release date so could presumably disallow reviews made before it.

@brighteyesdavid Sure they could but do you think it would hold up? It's something that has been posted in multitudes on support.trakt.tv so I don't want to repeat my self too much.<br /> <br /> - Release dates come from TMDB. Anyone can edit them or add fake screenings. Increases abuse on a 3rd party site.<br /> - We have actual critics on the platform getting press screenings or screeners (for both TV and movies).<br /> - Sometimes things surface earlier than intended and reaches a big enough audience of trakt.<br /> - Movies run in festivals way before they ever get released (if at all).<br /> <br /> Removing ratings before major release dates are benefiting to no one. Having some ratings to gauge from is at least something. Even if you gate the ratings, those looking to abuse it or just use the system differently (10 = HYYYPE!E!E!EE 1 = not watching) will still be around, you'll just notice them less.<br />

Probably what's even more annoying than seeing ratings for a movie or show before its released is people liking these type of comments (there is so many across the site). They get many likes and end up being the most popular comment forcing you to always switch to most recent comments :(

You have a point there but when the actual movie comes out, the hundreds of votes will overshadow all these pre-screening ratings
