Go to therapy, girl! ***Appendage*** is a psychological horror with an evil twin twist, made me think of *Basket Case* a lot. It's all about trying to get rid of your monster (self-doubt and insecurities) but it isn't an easy thing. I can relate to that! Be cautious though, self-confidence achieved at the expense of others is a no no.

I liked the fashion designer setup, fits perfectly with the themes. Good acting and a decent main character at the helm. That little monster was so cool, especially when it talks. I was originally turned off by the exposition dump from the group therapy about the appeadage, happened very early on too but it does take the story to an interesting path. I liked the twist even if it's a little predictable. Satisfied with where the story went overall and great ending.

I cannot believe this movie got made. It's so bad everyone involved must've been desperate for some money.

Ironically, considering its plot, I felt this film was missing a vital part! It wasn't scary enough to be a horror movie and it wasn't pointed enough to make a judgement on our insecurities. It was well made, directorially speaking, but it was still lacking.

In the film, you are introduced to Hannah, a fashion designer who one day discovers a mysterious outgrowth on her body. This is a more elaborate idea of the 2021 short film of the same name. The film has an agile pace between female psychology, social expectations and horror and also has a surprise in store.

The appendage effects are of course not new and reminiscent of Basket Case or How to Get Ahead in Advertising (1989) But those were comedies, this movie takes it all a bit more serious but the special effects are practical just like those 80s movies!

Although the vile creature itself isn't really frightening at first, there are awkward times, particularly when speaking with the tongue! In addition, Hadley Robinson, who plays Hannah, a twentysomething, is charming and fits the movie perfectly. Yes, this movie was far superior to what I had expected and offered a novel perspective!

The predictableness of it all was the most annoying part. Its missing something around the friendship circle to make some of the

The Appendage thingy itself is fucking hilarious.. reminiscent of some Yuzna movies

I honestly wasn't expecting this to be as strange as it was, I knew very little about it going in though so my expectations were limited, having said that, it still gets 6/10

I vibe with the message of this film and found it to be overall competently done.

It did feel a bit derivative of other films (Malignant in particular but not exclusively, and that might just be a coincidence) and was far too heavy-handed at times, not trusting the audience to get what was going on ("Call me Claudia!") or pick up on the obvious themes without spelling them out, and this kept it from being truly great for me.

However, the creature design was great, and I really loved seeing her bf and BFF support her and be so understanding. I loved the resolution. There was definitely something here and I would be interested to see more from this director-writer as she hones her craft.

Within the opening 5 mins you know exactly what’s going to happen. The plot twist was so obvious from the moment she met the group. Most people will turn it off as I almost did. I do though recommend persevering through the 1st half, as once the stupid monster comes full circle, it then improves greatly. 5/10.
