April Fool's Day may not be a ggroundbreaking cinematic masterpiece, but it's a thoroughly enjoyable and suspenseful slasher with a unique twist. The blend of mystery, humor, and gruesome thrills makes it a perfect guilty pleasure for genre fans who appreciate their scares with a side of dark humor. Just be prepared for some cheesy moments and predictable tropes, which are par for the course in an 80s slasher.

Serviceable slasher parody that is never quite as clever as it could have been or thinks it is. This is the first time I'm seeing this but I already knew the ending from a horror doc which I forgot the title, and that might’ve negatively affected my enjoyment. It isn't bad at all, but it isn't really great either. I guess I expected a lot more from this but I ended up being bored. For a 'slasher', it's quite dull, lacks violence, feels too light-hearted in tone, the kills are mostly off-screen, and I realize that's a dumb complaint knowing the context but I guess I was expecting a great slasher that subverts your expectations without sacrificing the elements that make slashers entertaining. Overall, I think this is one of those films that is only worth watching once but I still have to give props to the film for trying to do something a bit different.

The cult ‘80s horror film April Fool’s Day is a clever and frightening slasher. When Muffy St. John invites her friends to her family’s house on a remote island for a weekend getaway they start getting picked off one-by-one by a mysterious killer. Starring Amy Steel, Deborah Goodrich, and Thomas F. Wilson, the film has a pretty solid cast that gives strong performances. And, the script does an impressive job at playing on and using the tropes and conventions of the murder mystery and horror genres; although there are some weak spots. Also, the kill scenes are intense and suspenseful without being overly gory and gratuitous. It’s not without its problems, but April Fool’s Day is a fun satire that’s entertaining and delivers a number of chills, along with some laughs.
