I've been a fan of the Assassin's Creed games pretty much since the start and have played all of the main console ones as of today. So obviously I was interested in the movie, though not THAT much because I don't have a lot of faith in videogame adaptations (looking at you, _Max Payne_).

I thought it was a decent movie, but it had one giant flaw: it focused too much on the present day events instead of giving Aguilar enough time to shine in the past. That sort of made it a bit slow, and I particularly didn't enjoy how they showed the Animus room over and over again while interrupting the past scenes. I didn't want to be too focused on comparing to the games, but only the intro and three separate action sequences were in the past and that part of the story had no real importance other than finding the Apple... which sucks, because the past is what's most attractive about the series and arguably the reason of its success. Other than that, it also disappointed me to see
how easy Callum simply changed from hating the Assassins to helping them... it was a good scene seeing all the Assassins via bleeding effect, but there was nothing in the story that led to this, it just sort of... happened.
But leaving what I didn't like aside, it was actually a good adaptation. All the scenes with Aguilar were pretty awesome and it really felt like the game, the action was spot on and so was the running/climbing/jumping. I found it funny that one of the bad guys fell on a haystack cart but the Assassins didn't, I had the feeling it would be silly if they did. I was also really glad they didn't have the Eagle Vision and just had eagles be present throughout the film, because it could also be perceived as something silly, it's a big example of how not everything needs to be taken from game to film. Also, interesting to see that all scenes in the past were in Spanish, Michael Fassbender was great at it.

All in all I thought it was good, but it could have had a little more action, not necessarily in the past... but yeah, it could have more of that. If there is a sequel, they should explore more of the past given that they don't need to explain everything about the Animus and other things again.
(I understand the story is meant to be in the same universe as the games... so I'm wondering if we'll hear something about the events of the movie in the next game. There was only one character that has been referenced previously in the games, he is of certain importance and... well, now he is dead. I guess we could read/hear something about it while spying on Abstergo.. I really hope Callum is mentioned, and perhaps we get Aguilar's outfit)
Assassin's Creed has such a cool concept. Maybe the coolest I have seen in a while. I personally don't have a lot of experience with the games, but I found the movie to be pretty entertaining. Still, it was not the greatest movie ever. It has been a week since I've seen it and I'm still not sure why not, tough.

The actors were great. I really like Michael Fassbender, everything he does, he does so well. I had to get used to Marion Cotillard her character Sophie Rikkin but she did pretty great as well. I could name all the actors but there is no use because the acting was just really good in general. Not much else to say about it really. Something else in this movie I want to praise is the editing. Especially the shadow-movement-thingy that happened when Cal was in the machine. That was so cool.

I think I preferred the storyline in the 15th century over the present time. That might have had something to do with why I didn't fully love this movie. But still, not sure that that's it.

Great concept, great actors, great editing, there just was something missing and I'm not sure what. (it really frustrates me that's why I keep repeating it, ha)

Fun film. Has plenty of action sequences and great plot twists throughout the film that make it more interesting. Plenty of well developed characters throughout, and each character has great depth. The execution of the stunts was superb and had breathtaking set-pieces throughout. It's more faithful to the games than other previous game adaptions like Doom and Warcraft: The Beginning, and it moves away from the story while keeping what made the games so well received. A great movie, definitely worth the watch.

I actually really liked this- the action sequences are exciting and take on a kind of Jason Bourne-quality and Fassbender, Cotillard and Irons do a nice job of making the characters interesting and helping to overlook a lot of the silliness of the script. Overall an 8/10

I have the advantage of multiple _Assassin's Creed_ games under my belt, and even to me it was nonsense. Wastes an **incredible** cast on what will wind up contributing to the seemingly never-ending pile of lacklustre videogame adaptations.

_Final rating:★★ - Had some things that appeal to me, but a poor finished product._
