There is a surprisingly romantic heart at the centre of Attachment, the tale of a chance encounter between two women from completely different walks of life that leads to love and a chance encounter with the supernatural. Much like Spring that I watched for the first time recently, I think there is a nice genre niche here that could be interated on, much like drama-forward elevated horrors that are currently all the rage. Romance-horror offers a lot and should be explored more, as it's all part of the human experience that we all attribute both warm and harrowing experiences with. An interesting use of seldom-utilised Jewish mysticism and folklore keeps the middle arc interesting, but begins to plod as it becomes apparant that there isn't much meat left on the bones as we build to a somewhat generic conclusion. It struggles to find its pace after the intitial opening foray, sliding firmly into the slow burn category which will be a firm deterrent to many who are after a loud, thumping horror flick. If you prefer your horror slower, a little different and interlaced with a romantic core, give Attachement a whirl. It's not going to set the house on fire, but it's not bad either.
