I am frustrated.

August: Osage County is being labeled as a comedy but of a comedy doesn't has much. Is actually a very intense, depressing and sad film. For a story with such emotional charge as this one, it needed to have some kind of change, something that holds us to want to know more. Instead of that it's always constant and actually boring at some points.

There's no resolution for the story what left me very angry! After the film passed the one hour mark I was starting to get bored and I just wanted it to end quickly because I wanted to see where the characters would end up but the fact is, you will never know that. The point where the story leaves you is important and in my humble opinion the film don't give us what we deserved to know. It ends leaving a big hole.

The performances are the best of this film. I already knew that this fantastic cast would give me amazing performances and two of them need to have a special mention. Julia Roberts that has one of her strongest performances in a long time and Meryl Streep is Meryl Streep. She always shines, we already know how great she is.
I would also like to mention one particular scene, that was actually the only one that made me laugh, the "eat the fish" scene. It was absolutely crazy and amazing!

August: Osage County is about one of the greatest dysfunctional families ever seen on a film but the poor depth of the story and the lack of some important aspects turn it into an average film. I expected so much more but it was another disappointment of 2013.

Cinematically wanting but never dull, the excellent acting on display is enough to make a trip to August: Osage County worthwhile.

The story of a dysfunctional family. You can only watch it to think that life could write worse scenarios for us.

I can't believe that this film only got 64% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. The criticism was similar to that of Wolf of Walls Street: "I hated the characters and emptiness of the film so I hated the film". Shame on you if you think this way. Who would have ever thought that Julia Roberts could hang with Meryl Streep? The dinner scene along was worth the price of admission. I wish they made more films like this one.

well I have to agree with CatyAlexandre that the history has not an end point. is simply left in the hope of what might have happened to the characters, they just leave the house. but the film also showed me a realistic side. that many people, especially children. deviate from their family, do not care much with parantes, to the point of not go visit them and prefer the street, danger, crime, and violence, because of drugs. first these people need to accept as a fool and leave his problems from behind to depart therefrom accept the help of the friends and grasps the motivations of the life and happiness comes. I think if the movie had followed this line it would be better

Stellar performances from Meryl Street and Julia Roberts. Brutally real and honest story-telling. Meryl Streep absolutely deserves an Oscar here. Excellent movie.
