Great movie. I was pleasantly surprised at just how good it was!

It’s unfocussed at times and more then a little messy, narratively speaking. However, it packs an emotional punch, so for all it’s shortcomings it is still worth sitting down with.

In reading some of the reviews of this movie I think that some people thought that the movie is about cancer - I don't believe it is. The film begins with four very broken people. There is no hope and there is no direction. An unexpected development brings the four together under one roof and something amazing happens. There is a beautiful shared human experience that gives the film a completely different texture. The movie is no longer about death, it is about living. The beautiful final scene is all the proof that you need.

I thought that the director did an excellent job telling the story. We weren't bogged down by the details of each characters story as that would take away from the large message. There were no trips to the hospital or seeing anyone in a twelve step program. I also loved the titles to each scene - I thought that was a nice effect.

"Love story" with amphetamines. Until the disease of the protagonist is revealed, it seems that we are facing an interesting "indi" proposal for weirdos. But from then on we find a softening of cancer, avoiding its most unpleasant aspects. A love story between a girl in a phosphorescent wig and a young drug addict who could be a Calvin Klein model. A mushy film that is banal in its representation of will power.

Can't stop thinking about this movie! Especially Milla's dancing and Moses' goofy smile. Really beautiful.

Frankly, I think the Girl-Gets-Cancer-and-Falls-In-Love movie genre is a little bit overplayed.

I'm still unsure about my overall feelings on this film. For stretches of the film I found myself annoyed with the oddities of the various characters and some of the quirky interactions. At other points I felt for the desperate situations each of the four leads were in, and I could sympathize with their versions of coping. And then there's the final scene...it was an absolute emotional gutting. Even though I found myself not always connected to the characters throughout the film, this final scene hit hard and hammered home the messiness of living, and how fleeting it can be. I ugly cried through the credits (which are presented in a perfect way) and felt drained afterwards.

Like a human heart, it seems simple in theory but is far more intricate and complex than it looks.

I think I was supposed to think the romance between the 16-year-old school girl and the 23-year-old homeless dealer who steals her cancer meds is quirky and off-beat and touching and endearing but, man, I just couldn't get there.

That said, Eliza Scanlen is as subtle and strong as the beating heat of this film.
