Watching this in Blu ray in HD on a large screen was a revelation. Beautifully captured, pristine images. Representing the diversity of our planet and the human cultures. Though provoking and beautiful. Highly recommended!

Rewatched Baraka and now I'm convinced that my life would be so much more meaningful if I just spent all my time staring intensely at nature while chanting in Sanskrit

Baraka is a beautiful and meditative film. It has no narration or anything, just visuals, and a lively vibe.

It's so relaxing it could put you to sleep, but not in a boring way, just in a peaceful and relaxed way.

Gorgeous cinematic storytelling without narration in the same vein as Chronos and the Qatsi trilogy. It's a broad look at our planet with an emphasis on human impact, for all the good and bad that entails. Baraka centers itself on a series of stunningly beautiful looks at nearly every important modern issue, from religion to culture to naturalism to warfare, with a magnificent eye for composition and a light-handed touch that allows the lessons being taught to be the viewer's own.

A perfectly downplayed soundtrack, mixing ambient noise from each setting with a wide range of genres and moods, further envelopes us into the scenario without standing in front of the picture. Breathtaking work that literally left my jaw open more than once, and a genuine revelation on Blu-Ray - this is the disc you really need to show off your home theater system.
