Along with laughter and joy, there were emotional scenes that pulled you in and made you think about the norms set by society on women and the struggles one faces to be true to oneself, your family, and friends. Such as the following quote:

"That's how the society is. I don't believe in their norms, but we still have to live in this society".

While the movie could have expanded a bit more on all those messages, everyone involved in making this did a good job of keeping it focused on characters with relatable but small settings.

I also liked Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari's (Director of Bareilly Ki Barfi) advice to Kriti Sanon on her role as Bitti Mishra: "My brief to her was only one thing. Just be yourself. And be as you are at home. How you stay? How you live? How you eat? So, little little things. She hardly made her hair. I told her if you have to go out and you just have to put a ponytail 'How would you do it?'. And she told me 'Like this'. That's exactly what we need to do with the film".

If you ended up enjoying the movie, you may want to read the novel "The Ingredients of Love" by Nicolas Barreau which the movie is based on.
