Jesus. This is as bad as Suicide Squad honestly. Harley Quinn was way better in that movie, and here it's just all over the place, with rough story-telling, bad acting from pretty much everyone (the cop and Ewan McGregor especially), the same dumb exposition, and marketed as if Deadpool and Deadpool 2 were the style they went for. I wasted my money so you can save it.

This should’ve had its title and subtitle reversed.
That would make a lot more sense with the movie that you’re watching.
It doesn’t change my feelings about the film, of course, but it really is a Harley Quinn movie first and foremost.

Pros:
- Creative, bold, and unpredictable.
- Intentionally messy and colourful.
- The action is very well shot and edited.
- Interesting character development, dynamics and arcs.

Cons:
- As with most of DC’s recent outings (excluding Joker), the acting isn’t all that great.
- The writing can get pretty cringeworthy, and most of the humour falls flat.
- Very concerned with addressing toxic masculinity, which in itself is perfectly fine, but it overextends to characters where it doesn’t fit.
- Black Mask isn’t very threatening.

5.5/10

@zephir oh, stop putting politics where were none. The only supposed good one was a cop and even that's a stretch.

@Gloom8 It's really cute ... Remind me on what planet do you live? It looks so beautiful!<br /> Do not put politics? So tell the director and Ewan McGregor and by the way wake up:<br /> <br /> •Ewan McGregor (on his own Twitter): "What interested me with Birds of Prey is that it’s a feminist film [...]"<br /> •Cathy YAN (interview on NPR.org) : "Yes. I mean, without sounding too much like a diehard bra-burning feminist here, but yes [...]"<br /> <br /> And these are just 2 small examples!<br /> Sorry but before you patronize, and take people for idiots, you have to learn a little and know what we are talking about!

@yumakdust on planet called "Find good people in that film. Period".<br /> But your people have to always find politics in movies their hate. And always turn blind eye to their favorite movies. If "Aliens" or "Alien" (the only good one in the franchise) came out in the last 5 years your guys won't shut up about "feminist agenda" in those movies. Or what about beta male character in "Arrival" and female hero (how dare they!) saving the day by the power of communication and not violence (cartoonish bad army guys aside the film was great, I agree)?!<br /> <br /> **Come on guys, don't play dumb. Let's be real here**. There are a difference between making film feminist or pro-war and ham-fisted agendas (idk selling toys in cartoons for example). In the normal world word "agenda" would have been neutral by the way. Take "Starship Troopers" the movie is clearly political, it has anti-fascist agenda. Does it make film bad or insincere? I would say no. How about "1917"? It's none political, but it has anti-war agenda. TV series "Punisher" is none political, but has pro-guns agenda, which doesn't make season 1 bad in my opinion.<br /> <br /> As for **"Birds of Prey"**. It's feminist film (Both director and producer are feminist and talked about movie in those terms), it **has** surprisingly small amount of actual **feminist agenda** (neutral term - Alien and Terminator 1 and 2 also have some feminist agendas in them). However @Zephir 's "All Women = good, all men = bad" BS doesn't apply here. They tried to make it about _politics_. They also probably didn't even seen the movie. They just wanted to find something political to talk about and rile up crowd that always falls for "stop putting politics ~~aka woman, gays, and people of any nationality or race accept mine~~ in my movies" BS.

This movie has a lot of energy and is fun but not as funny as I hoped. Margot Robbie is great and Ewan McGregor is having fun but the rest of the cast has nothing to do. The action is really well done. The plot is ok, I dug Harley's narration. I thought the title cards for all the people's introductions and crash zooms were a little much. Overall a good movie and a much better use of Harley Quinn.

I believe every good comment is PR work. Because this movie is really boring and lazy writed. Ewan McGregor is the only reason I can give this movie-ish thing 2 star (
and they blow him because they can't afford a crossover villain movie in future
. I expected a meaning at ending which there isn't one. Other star is cameo for
Captain Boomerang
and that angel scene for old man. Really who likes this movie and why? Margot is perfect for that role; okay but that script is boring and useless. Is that so hard that they took over
Bird of Prey club which former Black Mask's club
? Worst DC movie and I can argue with all facts!
Who cuts an almost perfect action scene and comes with flashback; some bad director of course.
There are a lot of useless scenes, even this movie isn't about Birds of Prey!

I feel like I've just watched a movie made by and for 12 year old girls.

No script to speak of, it's all over the place. Acting is mediocre, I don't see anyone standing out. Robbie was the best but seldom got more then two lines to build something up. The rest simply tries to hard and it feels forced. As does the humor with punch lines telegraphed from start to finish. The action scenes were the usual stuff with, at times, cool soundtracks. A poor mans version of Deadpool.

If that was supposed to be some kind of pilot for future movies I think I'll pass.

Here's the thing about this movie: Margot Robbie is fantastic as Harley Quinn. She is what makes the movie worth seeing, and another film devoted to her character would not be unwelcome. But as a whole, the film is scuppered by a weak script, and some misguided casting choices for some of the characters. The aesthetic is overly realistic too, so the comic book character of Harley Quinn seems a little out of place. It's not a bad film - there is fun to be had - but it fails to live up to its potential. I will watch it again, and my opinion might change, but for now, consider me disappointed.

Forced Diversity
Forced feminism
Awful cast
Boring and uncecesary
Actual proof that source material doesn't matter as long as every race is represented and women are depicted to be "strong and independent"

I can see why this didn't do well. The narration in the beginning felt out of place and the birds of prey only showed up with about 15 minutes to go. The movie needed much more of the last 15 minutes throughout and a lot less of the background stories of everyone.
