With reviews like “anti-entertaining”, I wasn’t expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised! Granted it isn’t anything new but it’s run-of-the-mill fare done well. Supremely watchable. Ties into the larger DCEU including Peacemaker in believable fashion. The only part I was sad about was the death of a very interesting character so soon after their introduction. Hope they are brought back in some form later.

Just coming out of the Madrid premiere. Mmm… I really wanted to like it, but I’m afraid it’s messy at times and many lines are cringeworthy. There’s way too much exposition in the first act. It’s supposed to be brutal but they make the constant joke that Adam kills indiscriminately and in the end the joke gets kinda tiring. But it’s true that Dwayne Johnson was born to play Black Adam. My favorite was Doctor Fate and even Hawkman, despite his obnoxious black and white view of heroes and villains. I don’t even know why he’s the leader of the JSA. But his wings are something else!

Cyclone and Atom Smasher… a bit forgettable.

The post credit scene… it’ll make everything worthwhile.

I don't get it - it seems written by a teenager just to be a collection of one liners, explanatory scenes and speeches for even the slowest viewers, wannabe cool moments, explosions, unnecessary destruction, overuse of CGI and characters who are there just as plot fillers: the overly-enthusiastic-always-chatty-annoying teenager whose only point is to act carelessly and bring the story forward, the nice and nerdy brother, the smart doctor, the flirty youngsters...
I don't watch these kind of movies for subtleties and I take into account a fair amount of suspension of disbelief but this was just uninspired stuff, half of which is fights and chases dragged and dragged and dragged, all caused by people seeing the world in black and white just for the sake of reaching the 2 screen hours milestone (you know like people making dumb decisions in horror movies).
The Suicide Squad had the usual DC elements in an original and captivating mixture.
This is a generic blockbuster, in the worst meaning of the word

Much better than the initial and critic reviews are making it out to be. The action was fun to watch, the sound design of the fights and music was great. The story was a bit lacking but there were quite a few emotional and impactful scenes, I'd recommend watching it.

Way better than many critics have suggested, this has a decent story, great visuals, and a great cast of actors. I'm not really a fan of Dwayne but he foregoes his usual eye brow rising schtick here and delivers a decent performance.

My biggest complaint is that it's hamfisted, but so what? An action movie embracing its best parts and just rolling with the punches instead of being needlessly long trying to explain some of these transitions and motivations? Sign me up for more of that. Black Adam embraces what it is and just dives in head first. It's heavy handed and over the top, and that's hardly a glaring flaw in a super hero movie compared to all of the other things people traditionally get wrong.

It doesn't sacrifice its strengths to satisfy critics, but I think those critics forget why we go to the movies in the first place. The fact that WW1984 is well received and this is not shows the hot mess of priorities these people place on films. This cast was great. The action was fun. The story was straight forward and not bogged down. It was fun.

Let me repeat that, it was fun. And I want more of that.

A fun entertaining superhero movie. Was it so hard to make one? Not really original or groundbreaking but who expects that from a superhero movie? The job here is to be fun and break stuff. And here this movie works. Rock is excellent as always and the supporting cast was also quite good. Just they should stop dressing the supposed "smart" characters as clowns. But it was not so distracting, so it was fine.

I really have to thank all the "professional" critics here. Without their rave recommendation (low scores) I would not even bother to watch this. Great job there.

Honestly it surpassed my expectations, Black Adam is an action packed movie even though the Justice Society is a bit weak in it. I liked the movie overall, loved Pierce Brosnan as Dr Fate and the twist in the story. Simply a bad ass movie and I can't wait until I see Black Adam with Shazam.

Solid 7 out of 10. It's definitely better then the Justice League & Wonder Woman 1984 but not better then Aqua Man or Wonder Woman or Shazam

Stay for the post credit scene you will love it and there is only one scene

Wow that sucked. Worst superhero movie I've ever seen.

DC completely wasted Dwayne Johnson's charisma by having him not smile throughout the entire movie.

Too bad the trailer gave away
the twist, which might have added a modicum of emotional resonance.

Pity they killed off Doctor Fate. Actually would've liked to see him in more movies.
Nice to see the nods to the DCEU with
Amanda Waller, Emilia Harcourt and Superman cameos.
I laughed out loud when
Henry Winkler
showed up.

"A bad plan is better than no plan at all."
That seems to be the logic DC applied to the making of this movie. Not sure they were correct.

This might be one of the worst things I've ever seen. I was going to write a whole breakdown of what didn't work and why, but then I realised that this thing isn't worth a single extra moment of my time. I'm merely here to recommend that you don't watch this.

Enjoyed the movie overall. It's nice to see an antihero just destroy random guys. Story wasn't bad and helped move the movie to its endpoint.

The Rock did a really good job as the character. I mean he's believable mainly because he's not wearing a rubber suit. I'm mean he's built like a brick shit house and it works for the character.

Just sit back and enjoy the movie and you won't think about some small things. Like, he's been away for 5,000 years but speaks the current language.

Incredibly uninspired.
I haven’t seen one of these in a while, but even I noticed that a lot of its visuals and ideas are directly lifted from better comic book movies.
And it’s ugly, really ugly.
At this point they should just go all in with the stylistic choices, make it look like _300_ or something. The current hybrid of stylized CGI noise with a world that’s supposed to look at least somewhat real doesn’t work.
The movie itself will have lost any sense of relevancy within a couple of weeks, despite ‘changing the hierarcy of power in the DC Universe’. Nothing memorable or even remotely interesting.
I just feel bad for Dwayne Johnson, the man clearly has a talent for this type of film, but he’s stuck in a time where adrenaline driven action filmmaking is at its blandest and most mind numbing. This needed more bite and edge in order to cover up for the basic premise, it’s such a shrug of a movie as is.

3.5/10
