Let me tell you, compared to its predecessors, this one's like finding a snowball in a blizzard – confusing and a bit of a letdown.

"Blade: Trinity" brings back our favorite vampire hunter, but this time, the stakes are... oddly different. Blade is now up against Dracula – yeah, the Dracula – and a group of vampires who want to use him to achieve world domination. Blade teams up with a group called the Nightstalkers, including Jessica Biel and Ryan Reynolds. It sounds cool, but it’s more like expecting a blizzard and getting a light frost.

## Analysis/Evaluation
The movie tries to mix the dark, gritty vibe of the first two with some new elements. But it's like trying to mix oil and water – or in my case, fire and ice. The plot feels scattered, like tracks in the snow that lead nowhere.

## Characters
Wesley Snipes still brings his A-game as Blade, but he seems a bit lost in the new setup. The Nightstalkers, while interesting, don't add the kind of depth you'd hope for. It's like meeting new members of the pack but not really getting to know them.

Blade and Blade II are some of the best vampire movies ever made. Blade: Trinity isn't quite as good, and I think that can be chocked up to pulling Blade to the background of his own movie, but I don't think it's as awful as some make it out to be.

Wesley Snipes, of course, makes this movie what it is. IMO, it's worth watching for that alone. [spoiler]The loss of Whistler is perhaps the first mistake this movie makes. They try to make up for it by bringing in Whistler's surprise daughter, but it just doesn't work.[/spoiler]

Abby (Jessica Biel) tries too hard to fill the role. She's basically a watered down Blade. There are many scenes throughout this movie where she's mirroring Blade, almost like they're setting it up for her to take over the franchise, but her character just doesn't have the same presence Wesley Snipes brings to Blade. Purposeful or not, that makes the movie feel disappointing. I don't think that would've been the case if she'd been brought in as her own character.

Hannibal King (Ryan Reynolds) kicks ass. I've always loved his particular brand of deadpan humor. At this point he's been typecast to hell, but he brings something different to the movie and that at least makes it entertaining.

And I loved seeing all the flared jeans and old apple tech. It's hard to believe this movie is almost 20 years old.

It might (barely) have gotten one more star if it hadn’t been the third one in the Blade trilogy. As such it has some mighty good movies to live up to and that it doesn’t.

This time David S Goyer took to both write and direct the movie. I guess he should have stuck to script writing or something. The action scenes are not too bad. However, that’s all there is. Just a string of actions scenes barely strung together.

The worst offence of them all is Dracula. When I first learned that they brought in Dracula as the chief nemesis I thought that sounded cool. Wrong! Apart from a fairly cool look when he get really pissed off the film’s portrayal of Dracula is a joke. It’s an insult to the Dracula legends.

To sum it up, it’s 2 hours of not too bad action but a disappointment as a Blade movie.

After watching all 3 of the Blade movies in a row, it gives a lot of perspective. The first was before all the Marvel boxoffice stuff took off, the second was having some Reaper stuff which was cool, but Trinity was the best in the series for sure. It needs better writing as Snipes has attested. We can tone down the Deadpool a bit and have more Wesley being a badass and not trail off into side projects. Whistler's family origins type things as well as Hannibal King's, but focusing more on Blade because he seriously can carry the whole film like he should have been doing since day 1.

All 3 Blade movies are awesome in my opinion. This one is my favorite out of the series. It introduced at the time a different type and kind of vampire. This is movie is freakin' awesome.
