Decent film. If a boxer has a hold-me-over fight to stay ring sharp, this is the movie equivalent for Statham.

Solid supporting cast. Good if unspectacular plot. Direction and soundtrack are a little cheap which slows the film down at points, doesn't make the hits hit as much as they should... but easily watchable.

The fact that Statham is wisecracking makes up for the shortfalls that him not doing lots of action leaves.

7/10

For a Jason Statham film, this was a real snooze-fest. It's a good thing I was eating while I watched this (for at least the third time? that's how unmemorable this is...) otherwise I would have fallen asleep. It wasn't a "bad" movie, but it's definitely not your Jason Statham action-packed, fight-filled gangbuster movie...more like a police drama story with a surprise ending but man, it took its sweet time getting there. Like others have pointed out, it had so many subplots that made absolutely no sense and added NOTHING to the film: the Falls character that "falls" off the wagon, the death of the detective's wife, the funeral, etc etc etc... So much of this seemed to be just very confusing "filler" material because it added nothing. As a story, I can give it a "7", but that's being generous, and also giving kudos to the villain (he was superb). Statham's part in this was very uninteresting and failed to keep my attention. Like I said, I think this is the THIRD time I've watched this, but I'm making notes here so I won't bother watching it ever again.

>Detective Sergeant Brant: Oh, yeah, the other thing. About you being a good cop, I meant that...
>Detective Sergeant Nash: Thank you.
>Detective Sergeant Brant: ...for a poofter.
>[DS Nash smiles warmly -- ah, those wacky homophobes!]

_Blitz_ is like a blind cop who misses his target when he shoots anyone instead of himself.

_Blitz: ACAB, the movie_. Deputy Inspector Nash, misogynist and homophobe, goes around treating everyone like shit (usually with his fists) and when the cop authorities try to get him to calm down, he threatens them with physical violence until they drop their case against him out of fear.

Oh yeah, and of course the black, female police officer is the drug addict.

This macho cop bullshit may have worked for Dirty Harry back in the 70s, but in this century it just comes off as offensive and tone deaf.

[PS: I'm not taking sides on the ACAB discussion with this post. My father was a security specialist in the Air Force so I'm sitting that debate out.]

Good plot but slow on delivery. Action for sure. The ending wasn't expected and was satisfying. Anything with Jason Statham is worth watching

Blitz is yet another Jason Statham vehicle that under delivers. When London is terrorized by a serial killer (known as Blitz) who's targeting cops, a rogue cop (aka Statham) must go outside of the law in order to bring him to justice. As plots go, it's not a bad one, and there's a subplot or two that helps to heighten the intrigue. But, the film lacks the focus to hold the action and suspense that the story attempts to build. Yet despite its problems, Blitz is still a pretty entertaining crime thriller.

Movie was a real disappointment :)

I mean, beside the main plot - which is very straight-forward until the funeral scene, where it just get lost - what are the subplots there for? The addicted police woman, the death of the boss's wife, the whole boss role... totally useless.

An then the funeral scene: maybe I felt asleep at a certain point, but how do they managed to know that the psycho was going to attend, so that they could trap him?

I like Statham, usually very funny movies. This was just very very bad :)
