Blitzkrieg Bop.

Jason Statham stars as Brant, a rugged copper with anger issues. He likes a drink or twelve, likes to beat down on bad guys and is a constant source of PR hassle for his superior. When a serial killer known as Blitz (Aidan Gillen) starts killing police officers, Brant takes it personal.

It is what it is really, just what you would expect from a Statham movie, where the tagline says it all, Cop Killer Vs Killer Cop! There's lots of chases, fighting, quips, brooding menace and with Brant teamed up with Paddy Considine's gay Officer Nash, some room for cheeky devilment. Director Elliott Lester and cinematographer Rob Hardy favour a scuzzy colour palette that befits the London locations, all while Ilan Eshkeri's sound tracking pounds away its feral beats.

One sub-plot involving Zawe Ashton's rehab released copper doesn't serve much of a purpose, and you have to take with a pinch of salt how Blitz goes about his business (he leaves finger prints everywhere!) But it's The Stath kicking butt and that is more often than not good enough for a good time, such is the case here. 6.5/10

**Blitz disappoints in almost every way. Dumb movie with a cast much better than it deserved.**

Blitz parades its dreadful lack of logic and experience, making its short runtime feel much too long. The writing chases side plots and rabbit trails that lead nowhere despite an effort to tie it all together later in the film. The result is a distracted storyline with awful pacing. The score and soundtrack didn’t help either, as grunge rock music punctuates every action scene. The one part of this movie that shines is the casting with several big actors that have significantly risen since their time in this film, including an Oscar Winner. Unfortunately, the horrible directing overshadowed its cast’s great skill. I am a major Statham fan but not a fan of this movie at all.

Detective Sergeant Tom Brant (Jason Statham) is a hot-headed cop who is tasked to bring down a serial killer who has been on the loose in London targeting police officers.

This is a pretty average Statham flick that never reaches anything more than that. It is not his worst film, but its no where near his best either. I have a hard time hating most Jason Statham films just because most of the time its fun to see him kick everyone's ass. Even if the plot doesn't make sense, always a good time watching him. This was no different.

This movie may have benefited more by not revealing who the killer is so early. The killer is played by Aiden Gillen who is great, however he never really develops as a character. From the moment he first appears to his last scene, he doesn't ever evolve to anything more than a one dimensional killer. This comes down to the poor writing and no fault of Aiden's. He worked with what he had.

We have this whole sub plot involving another officer PC Elizabeth Falls (Zawe Ashton) which never mounts up to anything. She tries to help a young gang member, but it added nothing to the main plot and took away from some of the enjoyment that this had. Zawe was pretty good in her role, its just too bad her character was never that important to the story.

Blitz never mounts up to what it could be, if there was just more meaning to the characters and the story, then it could have been better. 5/10.

A good thriller of the mark "Statham".

"Blitz" is a London serial murderer is killing police officers. Chief Inspector "Roberts" and Sergeant "Brant", a tough, uncompromising and politically incorrect police detective, is responsible for trying to stop the psychopath. The murderer is a vengeful man whose character will quickly recognize in that other murderer, "Scorpio" that "Dirty Harry" (Clint Eastwood), pursued. Sergeant "Brant" (Jason Statham) is here to take the trouble to catch the murderer personally. This character is easy to recognize because Statham is left with the mark of a hard man, defiant and alone gives a remarkable result and seamless. However, "Bitz" wanted to provide it with reliable quality partner, peers look to him like good counselor but their advice will always be very prompt, and that is a tough character, but is the only one who will accompany you on tough times in your life.

The other characters involved in the film as a whole would form a police station in a television series, one with enough history and other incomplete at all, as the accompanying police officer "Falls". Finally, a good movie that starts rather cold but gathers pace as the film passes and has great action and entertainment.

Moreover, the murderer of police is admissible and minutes of action are authentic. They are the genuine features "Brand" (Statham), and the handling of the story goes at will with sufficient effectiveness to conclude in an entertaining duel.
