This is a well-acclaimed movie ?!! I don't know what the critics were thinking, this movie is the true definition of 'Meh'! The story is cliché and this movie sheds very little originality to it! Don't get me started on the acting, the girl's acting was horrible to say the least! All in all, a true 'Meh!' of a movie!

It is a simple movie, no bullshit, no heroes, just plain action, Mel's performance is good also. A good movie to watch in a saturday afternoon.

Mel owns the movie and yeah you still don't want to cross a Mel Gibson character after all these years. The rest of the cast is less impressive though. Get over Mel having issues and give him more roles. Trump has issues and a big mouth and he's running for President. When Mel kicks ass as an actor still, he should be in more movies.

What do you do when your action film script is lacking? Pump it up with some exciting action, and the audience might let slide the shortcomings. Unfortunately, that's not the case here. The story is a poorly written cliché, and the action is minimal, giving off that 90s vibe where the hero tries to crack jokes all the time. It's even more disappointing when you know that Mel Gibson could do a much better job at directing and writing than he did acting here.

This was better than it had any right being. In my head, I just imagined Riggs from Lethal Weapon went off the deep end and had to save his daughter.

An Dad and Daughter thriller/actioner so cliche and average that Liam Neeson must have passed on it.

Never expected Starlight (Erin Moriarty) to play the daughter of Mel Gibson and so many other familiar faces. Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy), Coco (Richard Cabral) who is also going to be Loud in the new Twisted Metal series and Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo (Diego Luna). Fun to see them all in Blood Father alongside Mel Gibson and to be honest, they all deliver.

What makes this solid actioner is really the cast for me. They are all delivering. The story is familiar and the action is killing it but still is serviceable. But what really helps is that Gibson cares. If he would've tuned it it, it would've been not as good. Really liked his chemistry with Erin Moriarty who plays his daughter. The run time of only 88 minutes is also a plus.

These are the kind of movies you just put in, don't want to think about it too much and especially don't want to be sitting there for 2 hours. Blood Father is a gritty little actioner well worth the watch. And one that really made me want to rewatch "Get the Gringo" again soonish.

It's a decent movie. Nothing special going on here. Gibson gives a good performance, better than any/most of his more recent movies for sure.
Like someone else mentioned in the comments here - "it's a good movie to watch on a saturday afternoon".

Well Gibson still has it in him for a good performance. Sound film with some good fast paced action.

Classic story with good guy (well, good might be stretching it), in this case the father, trying to save chick from the bad guys. The bad guys are of course totally dislikeable murderous thugs with a distinctly below average intelligence.

Mel Gibson plays the role of ex-con, caring father and kick-ass protector of his daughter quite well. He pretty much makes this movie which is a roller-coaster action ride. As with most of this type of action flicks the story and script is fairly mediocre. His old and not very trustworthy friend for example was not really adding any value and his actions was soooo predictable.

The thugs, although certainly projecting the required amount of “despicable bad-guy-ness”, were really nothing more than that. Stupid, stupid and more stupid. How they even manage to track John and Lydia down all the time is really beyond me.

With that said it was a enjoyable movie. The one were you just relax in the sofa, watch the scenery and arses being kicked. The stuff that Mel Gibson is really good at.

I expected so much more from this film. However, the weak script and dumb characterisations almost scuppered it. Some decent action helped, but this isn't quite the return to form for Gibson that others have touted.

Typical B revenge/redemption movie, so all the tropes and cliches you would expect are present, but they're pulled off nicely by the cast and crew. Gritty and well played. Gibson is believable as the ex con who wants desperately to protect and reconnect with his estranged daughter.
