This film made me weep like a 4 year old girl who just dropped her chocolate bar into a puddle. Mark Duplass has nailed it. He wrote it and got the brilliant Sarah Paulson to co star with him. And she delivers. Big time. Every once in a while, a movie comes along that rips your guts out. Derek Cianfrance's 'Blue Valentine' did this to me a few years back, and Blue Jay has done the same. The couples' relationship just feels so candid and exposed. It just got to me. It's not dis-similar to Richard Linklater's 'before' trilogy, although it's more of a neatly packaged powerpunch and it works. I just hope lots and lots of people get to see it.

For the most part a wonderfully acted and written drama. A narrative shift toward the end muted the experience for me but otherwise an impressive film.

I loved it. A simple film about nostalgia. A must see for 2016.

This movie is so worth the watch, and it’s pretty short too. It felt so real and natural. I felt like I was in the movie or that I was feeling what the characters were. Don’t even get me started on how good the acting was.

Terrific acting and the implausibility of a love story that feels about right.

One of these days I am going to start a "This is why I watch (indie) movies" list and this film will be on it. It has to be so difficult to try to find a new angle on love and relationships - Duplass certainly found one. In a way it reminded me of "Blue Valentine" in how it grabs you at certain points (although that was a much different love story). Another item that makes this film so unique is how funny it is in the middle.

As an armchair director I tend to spend more time than I should trying to figure out where the movie is going to end up. About halfway through the film I did something I have a hard time doing - I just kind of gave in and trusted the film. I am certainly glad that I did.

Blue Jay is a realistic, simple yet entertaining film. It relies almost entirely on the two leads to carry the film and they are equal to the task. Mark Duplass and Sarah Paulson has great chemistry and the whole film remains very relatable over the short 80 minute run time.
