I just watched this movie and was like wtf after the 1st minute. How can something like that be legal? Deprivation of liberty, abduction, being drugged against their will bc they were rebellious teenagers due to their parents' failure at the only job they had - sucessfully educating their kids? 'Guards' living out their sick fantasies of dominace, rape and oppression while ppl are having breakdowns requiring professional help? This is everything that's wrong with humanity atm and this hierarchy bullshit is reminiscent of the ones in dictatorships. I was so close to throwing something at my tv.....
BTW, I'd like to have known more about the history of Sophie and her parents and their decision. And then there's that pointless violence were camp habitants are beating others up with sticks while everyone else is watching.....violence is no cure! These teenagers need love, care and stability instead. And rape isn't entertaining, I'm sorry. Ppl leaving that camp are more disturbed and traumatised than before. The camp leader is as misogynistic as his co-workers and selfish. As a documentary, the movie would have been more effective if its goal was sheading light on 'boot camps' that could never have had any legal ground to exist. A documentational approach would have spared unecessary drama and repulsion.

Decent watch, probably won't watch again, but can recommend.

Since it's basically a child prison camp outside the per view of the United States, there are lots of angles to this one.

There are coming of age stories, there is the prisoner aspect of it: guilt, guards vs prisoners, prisoners vs prisoners, and just general psychology of traumatized people.

I know that makes it sound REAL interesting /s, but if you like movies you can think out, especially for the characters, then this is a real good watch.

For everyone else, it's still good, but it's a unique prison movie, so it comes with all that entails: abusive guards, warden with a god complex, and infighting like cuttlefish.
