_Have you ever been trapped? Lost in your own body, lost in your own mind, lost in time? So desperate to escape, to just... Get out._
-Susannah Cahalan

I have felt like that... while watching this movie.

I'm still rooting for Chloë Grace Moretz to be in good movies despite the fact that I have a hard time identifying her as a young adult and instead wondered at the beginning of the movie How did this teenager get a job at The Post?

She's fine in the movie portraying Susannah Cahalan a journalist that suddenly starts to physically and mentally deteriorate while doctors have no explanations to give her or her family as to what is happening to her. It would make for a compelling story as I'm sure Cahalan's memoir probably is, so it's too bad that the film based on it is written and directed with the least imagination anyone could possibly put into making a film. It's paint-by-numbers film making.

The movie would possibly get a pass for me as average though if it wasn't for Richard Armitage who is just god awful as Susannah's father. To make matters worse he mostly plays opposite Carrie-Anne Moss as she's playing the mother. He's bad in scenes without her, but when he's with Moss it highlights just how fucking awful he is because he's attempting to play off a great underrated actress. Moss is of course good in this (too good for this movie).

It's basically a Lifetime movie of the week.
