Eric O'Neill, a computer specialist who wants to be made an agent is assigned to clerk for Robert Hanssen, a senior agent with 25 years in the FBI, and to write down everything Hanssen does. O'Neill's told it's an investigation of Hanssen's sexual habits, however Hanssen is really suspected of spying for the Soviet Union and Russia for years and being responsible for the deaths of agents working for the United States.

_Breach_ is a compelling film based on a true story. The film's strength lies in its attention to detail and its ability to create an atmosphere that is both tense and engaging. The performances by Chris Cooper and Ryan Phillippe are exceptional, adding to the film's realism and authenticity. A powerful film that sheds light on the intricacies of espionage and the inner workings of the FBI.

This is a slow, but good spy thriller. Ryan Phillippe did well but Chris Cooper's performance is a standout here. The fact that this is a true story and he is based off of a real person made it really interesting to me. If you like spy thrillers based on true stories, check this out.

In the end I needed to remind myself, that this movie is **based on true events** because the scope of "bringing down the worst spy in the history of the United States of America" was only adressed in two or three explanatory lines throughout - for a subject matter like this, the movie lacked impact.
