8 year old Kevin McCallister from _Home Alone (1990)_ did a much better job protecting his house. Boo

This movie broke into my house, hit me with its mundanity, and then left with a piece of my soul. Will bolster my defences next time and pick a better movie.

A rerun of 35 other movies. A lot of stuff didn't pay off...why did we see her take off her shoes if they were to magically appear on and off her feet whenever the script called for it? Mercifully not too long. 3/10

Solid movie. Doesn't drag out the story beyond what's there. Very well done.

I saw this movie about a year ago, then a few nights ago I played it again completely forgetting I had seen it before until 20-30 minutes in. It's not as awful as some of the people here are pretending it is, it's just exactly what you expect it to be and exactly like every other "Breaking In" movie.

Okay, I survived maybe twenty to thirty minutes before I walked out. That's the quickest I've ever bailed on a piece of shit. My tolerance level is going down sharply after the past few months of unrelenting dreck being thrown at my face. The only positive I can muster up from Breaking In, is it's a great tool for students to use in class. Every single little facet is done wrong, from the piss poor attempts at writing to lack of creativity in the direction. I've read rejected scripts in my Screenwriting class that sounded more interesting than what was approved to be shot here. Also, just a tip for producers now, and specifically Universal, if you are not even going to try creating likable characters, at least show them going out in grotesque ways. If this is a horror movie with shit characters, at least give me something else worthwhile, something I can think about on the drive home. When I see a woman getting her throat slit, and you cut away so you don't show anything, that's when I walk out.

@filmtoaster Keep in mind, this same guy said Jaws was the best film ever made and rated something called "Teasing Master Takagi-san OVA: Water Slide" an 8 saying the cartoon looked great in a swimsuit. Now Breaking In isn't exactly a masterpiece in cinema or anything, but if you're walking out after not seeing a woman's throat get slit then I hope your next stop was to a therapist.

@paulvincent83 oh, takagi-san is awesome. It's an anime, not a cartoon, with well developed characters... Just saying. And who doesn't love a little gore?!

@paulvincent83 The lack of grit on top of lackluster characters tells me this movie is offering me nothing, that's why I walked. Conventionally, a movie with shit characters or story supplement itself with fanservice. It's the same situation Blumhouse's Truth or Dare was in. Horrible story, no violence to compensate, so there's nothing worth watching.<br /> <br /> Also, Jaws is amazing and Takagi-San is great, don't knock it 'till you try it.

Interesting hommage to 80s home invasion films. Because I'm sure that's what this was.

I did appreciate the black mother being the hero and not needing anyone else to defeat the bad guys, but as soon as the lead bad guy said 'fricking', I understood the path this PG-13 debacle was taking and just where it would dead end.

This redundant exercise in redundancy should have been released directly to rerun on a local, public access channel.

This movie delivers what it promised - no more, no less. A mother protecting her family at threat. I disagree with those who dismiss it for being as advertised. Maybe it was because it wasn't over the top gory, or big budget flash. Must all of life be depicted in hyperbole? I saw no reason to denigrate this movie. The cast was strong. The acting convincing. The threat real. It was well done for what it was. I give it a 7 (good) out of 10. [Home Invasion Thriller]

Somewhat enjoyable, but didn't quite feel the emotion I usually feel when seeing other movies of the same type.
