This is a decent low budget horror movie with a unique twist on the Superman story. Nothing really special but worth a watch.

All of the intrest in this movie comes from the premise, kid superman but evil and that's what this movie is and that's really all this movie is. It has moments of attempting to be real or show emotion but it continually failed. Really all you have here is a kid with the abilities of superman attempting to kill everyone and that's it nothing more, so if u can enjoy that check this out, if u need more i'd say skip it.

One of the worst films ever. It gives no explanation, purpose, or premise. It was as if the budget got slashed during filming. Sad. At least it was short.

@jordanculp20 What are you dumb or did not pay attention? It explained he's an alien and much like Superman and evil like old Saiyans from Universe 7. His purpose was to end the world again like Saiyans. And that's pretty much the premise an evil Superman.

@Slevanas lol… I must be dumb when it comes to this because I absolutely have no idea about any of these things you mention. It probably would have been more entertaining to me had I know. Well… thanks for informing me.

"I'm the bad guy...duh".

When 'Man of Steel' first crash landed in cinemas, one of the biggest backlash that the movie faced was Superman causing more collateral damage than the main villains - making him seem heroic instead of a creepy alien.

'Brightburn' basically takes some inspiration on 'Man of Steel' reception and ask "what if Clark Kent was a serial killer" with the Gunn family having heavy involvement in the writing.

Although the concept is interesting, but the exaction is seriously lacking and rather disappointing.

The movie was surprisingly short and I wish it was a little longer to expand on reasons why the kid turns evil. The performances from everyone was fine, but Elizabeth Banks playing the delusional mother in a horror movie is a repetitive trope, and makes you the audience member annoyed at her.

The death scenes were incredibly brutal, which I also didn't expect at all. I think the only character that's worth caring for is the father (David Denman) who is alerted immediately when trouble starts occurring.

Overall rating: Bruce Wayne was right.

Brightburn is a film with no real narrative or structure. The idea is an interesting one, however it is let down by a pretty bad script. The actors are probably the only real good part of the film. Yeah sure the death scenes are entertaining enough with some good camera work and effects, but as a whole I think the film ruined itself. If it was a big reveal or surprise that he was an alien the script would be a lot better.

This movie is a waste of time. It had potencial, but the nonsensical script ruined any chance of it being good at all.
EDIT: And now I checked what other movies the writters of this movie did... And I am not surprised at all!! I have been duped. This one shouldn't have passed the selection filter. I've made a BIG mistake with this one. =|

Decidedly 'meh'. Boy-oh-boy did they overuse the 'now you see him, now you don't' trope. You pretty much knew how everything was going to go at every turn. No real point in paying to see this movie, imo. It really under-delivers on every unique idea this story could have utilized.

Now that was super and dark with some great effects and action along with a strong cast and loved it!

I hope for sequel..

Not scary at all and the plot was non-existant. There is virtually no explanation why the kid decided to turn his back on humanity or where he came from. The basic idea behind the movie had potential, but was let down on every turn by a pretty bad script. Waste of time.

The potential was almost infinite. But, some really idiot dude have decided to make almost a splatter. That was the worst part of the movie.

This was okay, but I was hoping for something a little more psychological or at least that explored what it might have been like rather than the straight forward horror this was

I'm kind of surprised that there are so many negative reviews for this. Maybe not many people wanted a "what if Superman was actually horrible?" film in the form of a horror flick. I was pleasantly entertained and the biggest criticism I have is that the ending feels wide open for further storytelling that I wished I could dig into. I suppose The Boys helped fill that void, along with comics such as Irredeemable, but this feels like there could be some real good storylines to dig into in a sequel.
