Another Kirsten Dunst turn of the century certified high school classic! Dunst, Eliza Dushku and Gabrielle Union are fantastic. So fun, so camp, and endlessly quotable.

"Remember, they give extra points for alacrity and effulgence."
"Did we bring those?"

So this movie was alright. Definitely showed it’s age with some of the humor (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing). It’s very much a late 90’s / early 2000’s high school movie (predictable, cheesy, often cringe) geared towards a younger audience. I wasn’t too sure of the quality of movie I was getting into by starting this franchise, but this first one wasn’t too bad. I could definitely see why so many love this movie and it ultimately spawned so many sequels. Fingers crossed the upcoming movies maintain the decent, understandably watchable for some, quality.

Rating: 2/5 - 6.5/10 - Not Recommended to Everyone

I watched this long ago but didn't remember much of it. Man the 2000's were a different time. I dug that they implemented classic punk songs throughout the movie. Thanks Peyton!

best opener ever. :weary:

>**Torrance:** Courtney, this is not a democracy. It's a cheerocracy. I’m sorry, but I’m overruling you.
**Courtney:** You are being a cheertator, Torrance, and a pain in my ass!

That one always sticks with me for some reason.

My favorite scene though is when the Clovers confront Torrance and Missy about the stealing. So much woke.

I've seen this so many times and still love it. Cheesy and absurd with witty dialogue and fun dance/cheers. Released in 2000, it's a bit of a 90's time-capsule as well.

As I have come to realize, the movie did not stand the test of time very well. It has all the ingredients of a 90s teen sex comedy, just without the sex. And Kirsten Dunst's film brother is literally one of the most useless characters ever put on film.

This movie made me wish I was a cheerleader. It also made me wish I was Eliza Dushku.

Its fun, but there's a fair number of jokes that don't age well and that takes me out of the experience more than a little bit.
