The dark horse of Martin Scorsese films.

A fever dream of high rush that strangely reminds you how alive you really are, but at the same time, a dim of insomnia that reminds you how lifeless you can feel. New York City, the city where everybody is either dead, dying, or somewhere between. You're in the middle. Robert Richardson and Scorsese captures New York streets, deserving it's title as 'the city that never sleeps'.

I know a lot of people think Nicolas Cage isn't a great actor and he picks more bad than good roles. However, Cage is really excellent in this, which pains me to see him shy away from good material and becoming a stupid joke of himself. For the small screen these two had, John Goodman and Ving Rhames were also great. Lets not forget Paul Schrader fantastic script that keeps the film fresh at all times.

Overall rating: Gives it a shot. Just me.

I originally gave this movie a rating of 7 ... had to come back because it really stuck with me; upgraded to an 8.

I'd love to give it a 9 but the soundtrack (which was some great music)... it's like this movie couldn't figure out what it was. It was labeled a "thriller" but I don't think it's really a thriller... Maybe action, comedy, drama. Worth a watch for sure

While the beginning was OK, the film just didn't life up to my expectation. What is Scorsese's Message here?!

I didn't expect this to be so good, or so funny!
I knew it was considered campy, but it captured the insanity of NYC in the late '80s - early '90s with a perfect dose of cynicism and nihilism. Nicolas Cage, at his prime, doing what he does best. Listening to him deliver noir-ish monologues is always a treat. Unique cast, unique characters.
IMO, much better than the _Taxi Driver_.

I got some serious Taxi Driver vibes at the beginning of this and they kinda went away. It's an interesting movie and Nick Cage is pretty good too. One of Scorsese's more forgettable movies.

This film shows 48 hours in the life of Frank, a depressed and alcoholic paramedic who is getting to his breaking point. His head is in a big mess and he can't deal with anymore deaths in the stressed life of a paramedic in an ambulance. He is haunted by memories that just can't make him live a normal life.
The plot is very dark and once again Scorsese shows another hallucinating late night vision of New York City.
Nicolas Cage can act! His performance is very good and we can really feel the pain of Frank.
Overall Bring Out The Dead is a different but yet great film directed by Martin Scorsese.

It's a very good movie. Although it is with Nicolas Cage ;-)

The Scorsese outlier of his collection, that is more of a dramatic horror film like Flatliners. It's concept is interesting and will surely stick with you. Nick Cage delivers a compelling performance that will make you think very differently about paramedics. Not Scorsese's best, but I am glad he got to make a movie like this!

Doesn’t really feel like a Scorsese film (besides the needle drops), or a late 90s film for that matter. The harsh white lights that pop up everywhere were a little off putting at first, but it helps with the fever dream feeling the film’s going for. I wonder if this is the film that inspired Spielberg for the look of _Minority Report_, regardless I think it’s done more tastefully here. Nick Cage is very good, he doesn’t go as big with his performance as you might expect considering that it’s about him going crazy. The problem is that it doesn’t really stand out besides that, it’s a little more on the forgettable side of Scorsese’s filmography. It’s all done with competence; I like the grit and dark humor, the second half bangs, but it still can’t escape the feeling of being a lesser _Taxi Driver_.
