I really enjoyed it, there's so much heart behind.
Each one of the different connections is dealt with sensitivity and delicacy, so it's not some generic coming of age - there's his younger brother's coming of age and growth which pairs with Andrew's (scaled to the respective ages), Lola's growth, Andrew's relationship with his mum and the surprising Greg, with Domino of course...
Each character shows their fragilities in a coherent way, not for the sake of drama or plot development (Joseph would be so easy to place as the "villain",
while he himself turns out different than expected
).
There are surprisingly insightful moments even from smaller characters.

No such movie is a new one in its concept, but this specific one shows that by putting your own view and heart inside, you can make a compelling and touching and funny story and that's all that really matters. Even if different in the tone, Booksmart gave me a similar sense of freshness for example.

Great job by Mr. Raiff, looking forward to see his next works

So much chemistry between the two leads! The relationships between all characters were so well crafted and flawless. It's so much more than a simple love story it also tackles family. I especially loved the bond between the two brothers and the mother-son moments. Cooper Raiff is equally talented as both director and actor he has so much charisma. Dakota Johnson is great as always!

I understand that to get a realistic / natural feel in a movie means that things might flow by being a bit mundane at times, but this film is consistently uneventful. Even parts that shake things up a bit are quickly moved on from, and we're right back to lengthy, boring, and occasionally cheesy dialogue. The film held my interest in the beginning, but then it became obvious that it wasn't going anywhere. I stuck it out with high hopes after hearing all of the positive reviews, but was ultimately disappointed.

Some tone-deaf moments:
Early on she has a miscarriage in a bathroom and an hour later she's making moony eyes at Andrew and mounting him on the couch. In what world would a woman shrug off a miscarriage and immediately come on to a man? Would a mother entrust her autistic teen daughter with a 22-year-old man she just met as her babysitter?
There was some dialogue that attempted to justify the latter, but it still came across as a WTF scenario to me personally. If you are looking for a good coming of age film, I would recommend Eighth Grade (2018) instead.

That was a great coming-of-age film. I think what makes it stand out was the sincerity with which every character is written. There's a lot of heart in this. All of the characters felt real. I have to say that it had one of the more authentic portrayals of someone with autism.

Cha Cha Real Smooth is a great coming-of-age story. The first two acts were near perfect, while the third did overreach and feels somewhat emotionally fraudulent. I did appreciate the complexity of Dakota Johnsons character and the outcome that develops.

Dang! This was sad.
I mean good sad.

Really loved this movie - easy fun, genuine and honest, not over the top uncomfortable or too long, very endearing and just right. Godspeed Cooper Raiff - keep up the good work, can't wait to see where you take us next.

Man, I think Cooper Raiff still has a long road ahead of him. He’s practically the single reason why this film doesn’t work for me. The direction and writing aren’t particularly inspired at any point (lots of clichés, shot-reverse shot editing), and his acting is … just plain bad. I really wasn’t sold on the dramatic moments, and during the lighter scenes he’s not nearly as charismatic as he thinks he is as a director. The supporting cast makes up for a lot of his shortcomings, but this overall didn’t do it for me.

[tv+] Although it seems like a simple story, it is the construction of the secondary characters that feeds the development of the protagonist, especially in the case of Domino, to whom Dakota Johnson incorporates an attractive sweetness and infinite nuances. This impossibility of accessing an adult world without abandoning that youthful indifference is one of the themes of a film whose light tone hides interesting reflections on human relationships.

This is a really nice film with beautifully crafted characters and a heartwarming story. Loved Dakota Johnson as always and Cooper Raiff is definitely a rising star after this performance and he directed the movie too!

Like anal sex in the UK: indie arts.

More seriously, this quirky and sincere rom-comindie swings for the same fences as Eighth Grade, Lady Bird, Frances Ha, Booksmart and hits more often than it misses.

Special shout out to Odeya Rush, who is all things magic and life, and the utterly charming and talented Vanessa Burghardt.

Tries a little too hard to pull on the heartstrings towards the end but for the most part, this is a warm and engaging movie that is a delight to watch.

This movie is about a man who is just entering adulthood and is trying to figure it all out. He meets an older woman who has a special child and... well, yeah, we've seen this setup before. None of this material is fresh. However, the movie still works because of the heart and chemistry of the actors. The movie reminded me a lot of one of Johnson's other works (the fantastic Peanut Butter Falcon). It isn't without flaws but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Is Cooper Raif the next Tom Hanks?

With no knowledge of what the movie was, except it getting praise from random sources, I quite enjoyed this simple, very Sundance style movie. It’s plot remains small and impactful, while relying on the character developments, their relationships, and the quality of the performances. Firstly- the leads killed it . Secondly- the characters are all so real and believably written. It’s surely going to be one of those movies that you might feel that extra connection and LOVE this movie because of it. Would definitely recommend this one!

It's nice to see more realistic roles in movies. We have very few movies that can detail the growth that happens during your 20s as much as this one. Really enjoyed this movie, just wish they closed out a few relationships better.

Superb acting. Charming, honest, funny and beautifully romantic. Cooper Raif and Dakota Johnson on screen feels so warm and unexpectedly vulnerable. Wow! Do yourself a favor and watch this film.

Sweet, Sentimental, Realistic

Cha Cha Real Smooth is a sweet, charming, and sentimental coming-of-age dramedy that easily resonates with the current generation. Cooper Raiff is charismatic and delightful to watch on screen. He handles all emotions naturally and his performance speaks much louder as his ache felt personal. He is just a natural. Filled with elements of waggish humor, the heartwarming drama is something you tend to crave at times. When you just write a film from your heart it doesn't need to be always mesmerizing but sometimes soulful and Cha Cha Real Smooth here takes it name damn too seriously.

Dakota is such a beauty, She js too good. Cooper is marvelous throughout. Loved each and every conversation Cooper has throughout the film and that sparkling chemistry between Cooper and Dakota is a key factor why I really enjoyed the film. Overall, if you are bored with the genre exercises of cinema across the globe and want to watch something which makes you smile and get teary-eyed, led by a charming newcomer cum director, Cha Cha Real Smooth is the deal to seal.

I wasn't sure what to expect going into this film, but I'm glad I gave it a chance. Although it is not my usual genre, I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to seeing more of Cooper Raiff's work.

A lot of heart is in Cha Cha Real Smooth, but it also manages to sprinkle in some humour. After seeing the film, you'll feel in love with the characters. It's an excellent balance of tonal concoctions, with a few narrative twists along the way.

This degree of warmth and passion presented was exactly right—any more, and it would have been irritating; any lower, and it would have been ineffective. It is a satisfying watch and the performances-especially Dakota Johnson's enchanting portrayal-keep it interesting until the very end.

This movie is completely fine, but I am really surprised at the overwhelming praise it is getting. I guess everyone out there sees themselves as the adorkable manic pixie dream dude that loves so hard but makes sure he can take care of everyone else around him.
