I love asian movies, specially japanese. However, this was boring from begin to end. Linear and no real story behind.

Not sure about the author’s original intent, but it pretty much felt like a parody of family slice-of-life films with the addition of a few off-the-wall surreal moments. I am not familiar with Japanese television, but it looks like there are quite a few cameo appearances as well. It’s the perfect film to export at festivals overseas and feed the usual “Japanese people are weird” misconception. There are a couple of heartwarming moments and beautiful countryside landscapes, but it drags for way too long
