Like going on a weekend with your ex's extended family: this is cringey, awkward and you'll be counting the minutes until it's over.

Every 3 years or so, the French feel compelled to release a remake of The Big Chill where old friends reunite and treat each other like literal shit for 90 minutes (while listening to a soundtrack of nostalgic music, of course) but then remember the true meaning of friendship because they reach the end of the movie.

In addition to the vats of clichés (betrayals, lies, unhappy couples, unresolved personal disputes, secrets, misunderstandings...), Champagne ! distinguishes itself by having some truly awful takes on characters.

There's the woman who risks her wife's financial security without telling her and then cheats on her throughout the film, yet, at the end of the movie, the wife decides for no reason to stay with this monster and we're supposed to believe this ending is the 'happy' one?

There's the rich man who only stays with his fiancée (who everyone detests) becuase he doesn't want to be alone, and the fact they don't break up before the end of the movie is meant to represent a 'happy' ending?

There's an international asset manager who works for extremely powerful people and global organizations, yet because she's an attractive young woman she says things like "If you adopt, which one of you will be the mother?" to a lesbian couple?

Champagne! should receive all the Academy Awkwards for skipping the buzz and heading straight to the hangover.
