There are some interesting concepts here to modernize the story but most aren't fully fleshed out. There are some funny moments. Chucky's new look isn't the best but at least Mark Hamill gives a decent voice performance. We need Brian Tyree Henry in more movies, he is always great.

Surprisingly good, even if now it’s more like a Black Mirror episode. Or like the episode of Creeped Out where the A.I. cell phone went nuts. Than like the original movie. The new Chucky is more creepy than scary really and he’s even pretty funny.
Spoiler Warning: There’s some horror cliches though. If I wrote a horror movie or book. I’d spare the family pet for one. It’s just too obvious.
While the kill count is definitely less than the original or the sequels. However, the film is entertaining and darkly funny.
You may not leave thinking it was better than the original but it is fun. But maybe a little funner before Chucky goes predictably nuts.

Such a disgrace to the original

_Child's Play_ is a shite film, so I guess a shite film is Child's Play.

There is a total lack of anything vaguely scary here, and so many WTFs I couldn't even see the story . The most horrifying aspect of this movie is what they must've done to poor Aubrey Plaza to force her to abet in this criminally bad debacle.

Worth watching. That is my review. You're welcome.

I put off watching this for a long time because...duh! The original is classic! I was pleasantly surprised with this. It’s not by any means a great movie, but it’s a very fun, modern reimagining of the original. It’s got some good gore, some good laughs and a shitty doll. Like real shitty. I have no idea what they were thinking. Still, definitely worth the watch.

This is the remake nobody wanted.
The dolls redesign was the first thing they screwed up. And now it's just a toy that malfunctioned? Da hell. The original had some better context, he had a better "reason" for killing. This is just..... a screwed up toy.
They should rename the movie "baby terminator"

Although 30 years had passed since the original, this new Alexa-like defective doll, overexposed, bad cgi face and overall stupid design resulted in a big **DOWNGRADE** for Chucky and a disappointment for me.

funny at times. found the chucky and andy friendship dumb and cliche even for a movie like this. I knew the what the ending would be like an hour before it happened and even what words would be used. The kid gang felt forced. Almost like they have to force in some 80s style. At least it wasn't OTT.

For a horror movie remake, this was actually pretty good. While it loses some charm from the original releases (mostly due to the lack of Brad Dourif) it was actually still an entertaining movie. Mark Hamill did a magnificent job in his role of Chucky, still sounding exceedingly creepy despite having to sound robotic at the start. While some might hate that it is quite different from the original, I thought the premise they chose was probably the best they could have gone with, besides what's the point of a remake if you aren't going to change anything?

I actually felt like movie could have been a little bit longer, the final act felt quite rushed in my opinion. Chucky's new design is not the greatest if you ask me but at least it is creepy and it definitely could have been a lot worse.

This was fun! Feels like with tech where it is today this is probably the best a reboot could be. Even the mix between real doll stuff and CGI wasn't the worst. I had fun with this and would keep watching sequels.

Mark Hamill takes on the iconic character of Chucky in the remake of Child’s Play. When a single mother gives her son a defective Buddi doll it soon runs amuck and starts killing. Updated for the digital age, the film satirizes the “smart” devise culture where everything syncs together and the human operator is removed. Some of the deaths are a bit grizzly, but most are over-the-top and ridiculous (in a fun way). However, the writing is rather poor and the Chucky character design is kind of creepy. A problematic film, Child’s Play is entertaining at times, but doesn’t deliver any scares and pales in comparison to the original.

Watching this made me miss the original. It is an interesting take from the original while using modern themes. But the original was more sinister and evil and really felt the doll has a personality all its own unlike. Mark Hamil did okay doing the voice but it will never live up to the original voice and oh and that laughter. Did they make this Chucky have a resemblance to Mark??? lol
