Tim Allen needed to balance out his Christmas cheer after playing Santa Claus for a couple of movies.

Saw this one again after such a long time. It's okey on a cold winter day, but nothing to get too excited about.

I know this movie has been panned by critics but it is a yearly classic for our family. It's absurd and ridiculous and yet, it's always a joy during the holiday season.

Suitably amusing.

With that said, 'Christmas with the Kranks' certainly starts brighter than it ends. I found fun in the opening portion, especially with the two leads. I didn't like the ending as much, I found it too sappy and untidy. The run time is short though, so that doesn't hamper things much.

Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis are enjoyable at the forefront of the film, with Dan Aykroyd joining them in that bracket with his arrival. The rest of the cast are fine. The plot isn't anything majorly fresh, but it entertained me enough. Fun film.

As odd as it sounds, I didn't think to ask the butcher where the chocolate was!

From Chris Columbus comes the family holiday film Christmas with the Kranks. Based on a John Grisham novel, when their daughter goes off on a Peace Corps mission for the holidays the Kanks decide to skip Christmas in order to go on a Caribbean cruise; but the neighborhood doesn’t take kindly to the Kranks’ abstaining from the community’s Christmas festivities. Tim Allen, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Dan Aykroyd form a solid cast, however their performances are lackluster. Additionally, the comedy is too broad and gets a bit bizarre at times. The tone of the film is also off, as if the filmmakers don’t have a clear message to tell. Christmas with the Kranks is a messy and uneven film that doesn’t have much holiday cheer to it.

A comfort movie for my wife, adds yet another viewing of this movie for me. Personally, I did not like it growing up. Having now watched it many times, it has grown on me. I also get the desire to pack up and go on vacation for the holidays! It works. Its cute. There's certainly better Christmas movies, but this has become an annual watch now.

Rating: 3/5 - 7.5/10 - Worth Watching

Not seen since 2004, like new to me, it’s got a good heart that’s warming and also got a good sense of humour along with a great cast.
