Loved it, loved it, loved it. I'm Brazilian and I'm really prejudicious when it comes to national movies after an absolutely awful Brazilian picture I saw a few years ago, but this won't disappoint you. If you're foreign and you want to watch a movie about and from Brazil, this is the one.
Maybe you didn't know this, but Brazil has a trillion different accents, and this movie was "written" in a northeastern one that is pretty much it's own language up to the point that it needs subtitles. In Portuguese. Even though it's in Portuguese. But it's not. Crazy, right? And also half the reason I liked the movie.
The other half: in one line, it's a beautiful story about stories. Francisgleydisson (yes, you read it right) struggles to provide for him and his family pursuing his passion for cinema and movies, in a scenery of underdevelopment where the rich rule and the rulers get rich. The archetypical characters will have you falling for them.
Something extra: absurdly funny. Ceará is the state associated with comediants within Brazil, as I see it because of their storytelling talent, their naturally funny accent and well-written jokes. Laughed through 90% of the movie.
Watch the hell out of this.
