A favorite from my childhood that inspired a life-long interest in mythology. Harryhausen at his best! The performances are not particularly special, but the movie captured my imagination 30 years ago, and it continues to delight.

Loved the outdated effects, they have their own charm and give this film so many memorable moments. The second half picks up the pace eventually though the acting is often weak. A must see if you love your Greek Mythology.

Love these types of films, on the lines of Jason and the Argonauts, the seventh voyage of sinbad and always love the effects all the films give and this is still a good film and not outdated and entertaining.

It didn’t need a remake..

Sure, it is easy to point at the effects today, where we are treated to great computer imagery. And you could say that even for 1981 this looks outdated, more like from the sixties. But that's not the point, it was a style of filmmaking. Ray Harryhausen at it's best. He influenced the likes of Spielberg, Lucas, Cameron and many more. It's fair to say that without Ray there would be no Star Wars, no E.T., no Terminator and ultimately maybe no LotR or Marvel movies. Or at least not at the time they were made. It's a process, one thing leading to another. You should keep that in mind before judging this movie.

The effects aren't going to sit well with millennials and today's jaded audiences, but if you look passed that there's a wonderful fantasy tale here.

@jekyl6669 Uhhh your profile says you are 35, YOU are a Millennial dude LMAO! Millennial's aka Gen Y are who were born between 1978-1998. I believe you mean this won't set well with Post-Millennial's or Gen Z who were born after 1998. As a fellow Millennial myself (33) I grew up on this stuff and absolutely love it!

@joemiranda1985 Good for you. I'm glad you like it. Do you feel better about yourself? Lol. Do you get picked on for being a millennial or something, so you're overly sensitive about it...? I don't fear the Millennial label, and never even claimed to not be one myself, so... Wtf? Haha. Regardless of the fact that there's not even a set rule of what a millennial is. You can look up ten different sites right now, and they'll probably give you ten different dates on what categorizes someone as a millennial. And no, this won't sit well with MANY millennials, AND Post-Millenials. As much as I personally love it, it hasn't aged well.

@jekyl6669 Just correcting you dude. Clearly you didn't know that you were a Millennial or else you wouldn't have said that this won't sit well with Millennials, YOUR own generation... I thought it was funny you didn't know you yourself was a Millennial. I see many going around trashing Millennials not knowing they themselves are actually Millennials, just like you did. That's why I said something. You don't fear the label yet your making fun of Millennials thinking you are a different generation? Makes no sense man... Now you trying to play it off??? Come on man! LMAO! Wanna know how I know you didn't know you were a millennial still? Because even in your reply you are trying to argue what a Millennial is "Regardless of the fact that there's not even a set rule of what a millennial is. You can look up ten different sites right now, and they'll probably give you ten different dates on what categorizes someone as a millennial."

Haha! It's okay to learn new things, come on guy you don't have to try to turn to personal attacks just because I taught you something new. Asking me if I got picked on for being a Millennial? Picked on by who and when? As a kid everyone we went to school with were also Millennials. So who are you asking about me getting picked on by? Adults when we were kids or other Millennials? I mean did YOU get picked on for being a Millennial? You sure didn't think that question out did you? See what I mean? You still don't consider yourself a Millennial... SMH. No I am not overly sensitive about being a Millennial. Actually I'm quite proud of our generation paving the way for many things, things like this site you are on that was also created by a Millennial lol. Your ego is getting the best of you today. Come on man have a good laugh, You know like "oh haha man I didn't even know I was a Millennial..." Many don't realize they are Millennials because they hear in the media about it all the time mistakenly when they are talking about all the teenagers and young 20 year olds. Those aren't Millennials.

Hey man it's okay to be wrong no worries. I just thought it was funny you were poking fun of yourself without knowing it. You clearly were talking about today's youngsters that wouldn't appreciate this kind of movie. I was just informing you that YOU are a Millennial and the kiddos you are talking about are Post-Millennials. And yes for genealogists there is a pretty solid set rule for timelines. Each Generation has a set timeline that they go by. WE are Generation Y aka Millennials. Our generation was coined the millennial nickname in 1982 as we were the generation of computers and technology and would grow up during the turn of the new Millennium... Well at least you are mentioning Post-Millennials now. Now your post makes a little more sense. Glad we got that all sorted out. At least we can agree on one thing, we both love and appreciate this movie. Question though, why a 7 rating if you "love" this movie? Shoot it deserves a 10. This is a classic! They don't make em like this anymore.

@joemiranda1985 You're really reaching and projecting here. Hahaha. And you didn't correct anything. You didn't prove what or what isn't a millennial, just because you did a quick Google search, another quick Google search will provide you with an entirely different answer. And you didn't prove that I wasn't aware that I might be classified in the same category. Maybe you're unable to take the piss out of yourself, but I'm not. So if I WAS (as you claim) making fun of millennials, that means I can't be one too? Okay.... then. I guess a black person can't poke fun at black people because they themselves are black... Yeesh. Lol. You need to get a grip. Clearly you must have been picked on, or are easily upset by people using the term millennial. And just take any mention of it derogatorily. You seem to take everything as an attack. Since my asking if you were picked on was seen as a personal attack. I think you're the kind of dude that the term Triggered was coined for. Lol

I really don't have an interest in arguing with a stranger in the internet that is dead set on being aloof. And arguing just for the sake of it. I have better things to do. Like watch more movies about millennials. Lol

@jekyl6669 "And you didn't correct anything. You didn't prove what or what isn't a millennial," If you knew you were a Millennial before my comments then why should I have the need to prove it? Oh that's right because you STILL don't believe you are a Millennial. That's why you want me to prove it to you.

"And you didn't prove that I wasn't aware that I might be classified in the same category." Dude I don't need to prove anything. "The effects aren't going to sit well with millennials" You proved it yourself in your initial comment. You proved it yourself by not mentioning Post Millennials or the younger generation. The reason is you think the younger generation are Millennials not knowing that Gen Z are not Millennials. It's really not that hard to understand goofy guy. If you are 35 then you are a Millennial. Point. Blank. Period. If you deny that then obviously you are not a very smart Millennial. Unlike yourself, I didn't have do any google search to know what a Millennial was... I grew up knowing it.

I can pee just fine thank you. Let me make this easier for you to understand. Let's replace the word millenials in your initial comment and replace it with men. "The effects aren't going to sit well with men" You are a man are you not? Do you appreciate the effects? If yes then why would you say men wouldn't like the effects if you are a man and do? See how that makes absolutely no sense coming from you being a man and liking the movie? Your comment clearly shows you did not mean millennials other than yourself. Your ego is so huge you just can't accept that you didn't know you were a Millennial. It's okay nobody likes being wrong. It's understandable.

"I guess a black person can't poke fun at black people because they themselves are black..." Usually when making fun of themselves they make it obvious that they are included in that group and that they are making fun of themselves. So yes blacks can and do poke fun of each other like any other color or group does. Problem is you didn't AND STILL DON'T include yourself in that category. The whole point of me responding is because of that. You being a Millennial and you appreciate the effects then why would you say Millenials won't like the effects? That makes absolutely no sense... That's like a if black person that likes chicken says Black people won't like chicken. See how dumb that sounds? You didn't think this out very well did you?

I was never picked on for "being a millennial" we covered this already goofy. And even though I do get a little tired of ignorant people like you confusing Gen Z teens and 20 year olds and calling them Millennials not knowing they are insulting their own generation. I am not very easily upset. I'm not upset at you not knowing you are a Millennial and making fun of yourself, I'M LAUGHING AND MAKING FUN OF YOU... Ya big dummy! LMFAO! How am I the one that thinks everything is an attack? Your the one all upset and googling things to try and prove what I said wrong. Your the one with the big ego that got all triggered and butt hurt and turned to personal attacks and insults to protect your image. No I am not triggered, you are the one who is triggered here little buddy. I am very entertained with all this though. Honestly can't wait for your next reply of excuses. LMFAO! And I know you will reply. Your ego is to big for you not to reply.

@joemiranda1985 you're still going on about this? Hahaha. God, I must've really offended you. You've been sitting on this for a couple days, trying to come up with a retort. One that I'm not going to even read, sorry little fella, I don't like feeding trolls. Especially ones that are slow and can't comprehend much. Be well, I hope you find some help with all that. Lol ✌️

A fun swords-and-sandals adventure that I have fond memories of watching when I was a kid. It's still perfect for a lazy weekend's viewing. Perseus battling with the suitably creepy Medusa is definitely the film's highlight.

After watching the Remake of "Clash of the Titans", which I liked, I decided to give the original a go. But I had to turn it off after 10 minutes: the special effects look absolutely laughable (even for 1981) and the actors are doing a horrible, horrible job!

I recommend not even to think about watching this flick!
