Clouds is a feel good and very sad movie at the same time so get your tissues ready. I felt everybody gave a great performance and that this movie was put out with the best intentions. For every second Fin Argus is on the screen he embodies Zach Sobiech and brings his character to life, Lil Rel Howery also stole every scene he was in. You learn to love the parents even tho there no perfect family and the music in this movie is so good. There’s a reason Clouds has gone :pound_symbol:1 twice now it and the story behind it just have a way of gripping into your heart and head and just staying there. This isn’t a masterpiece by any means and there are probably better movies about somebody near death but this movie finds a way to make you smile, laugh, and cry and is not forgettable.

While I realize that this film is based upon actual events, it has a pretty hard Christian bent to it, especially for a Disney film, so much so that it actually feels like what would be considered a Christian movie. It's not a bad film by any stretch, but it's quite saccharine in its emotional tone. One thing I didn't particularly care for is how Sammy Brown was presented as an afterthought in regard to her participation in the making, and performance, of the music. Yes, this film was about Zach Sobiech, but he was a performer in a three-person band, and the movie cut one of the performers completely out of the film while relegating the other to backseat status. It just didn't feel right.

After stumbling across this one by chance in 2020 and loving it, I was very happy to choose to revisit this week as a part of my movie club. The terminal illness trope IS overplayed, and often makes me brush it off a smidge more than I should…but this one is different. I love this movie. I love this soundtrack. This one hits all the feels. I’ll watch this many more times, and this is comfortably my favorite movie of 2020.

Rating: 5/5 - 9.5/10 - Highly Recommend
